The blast caused extensive damage to the Muslim school . A bomb explosion has hit an Islamic school in the Netherlands, as tensions run high after the murder of controversial film-maker Theo van Gogh. Monday's blast in the southern city of Eindhoven caused heavy damage, destroying doors and windows. Police say it could be a revenge attack for the killing of Van Gogh by a suspected Islamic radical last week. Mosques in several Dutch cities have been the targets of vandalism and failed arson attempts in recent days. read full story / add a comment

By 8:00 PM on Election Day, I was convinced that I was watching the slickest damn con job ever put over on the American people. The TV coverage was pitiful. By now its becoming increasingly clear that Bush stole another election. Once the results in western states could be predicted the vote tally in Florida could be juggled in favor of Bush. Once the outcome in the west was known the vote tally in Ohio could be juggled similarly. read full story / add a comment

However Sinn Féin MEP Ms Bairbre de Brún declined to specifically support the unhappiness expressed by the other parties at Mr Bush's re-election. On This Day: 4 November. William of Orange, later king of Great Britain and Ireland, was born in 1650. An equestrian statue of him, blown up in 1929 by Republicans, remained on a scrapheap until World War II, by which time the Dublin waterpipes were in such a state that more water was escaping than getting through to people's taps. It was noticed that the genitalia of King William's horse were solid lead and weighed a stone and a half. The horse's member proved perfect for sealing pipes. read full story / add a comment
