Dutch Muslim school hit by bomb

The blast caused extensive damage to the Muslim school .

A bomb explosion has hit an Islamic school in the Netherlands, as tensions run high after the murder of controversial film-maker Theo van Gogh. Monday's blast in the southern city of Eindhoven caused heavy damage, destroying doors and windows.

Police say it could be a revenge attack for the killing of Van Gogh by a suspected Islamic radical last week. Mosques in several Dutch cities have been the targets of vandalism and failed arson attempts in recent days.

The Eindhoven explosion - which occurred around 0230 GMT on Monday - was caused by a "strong bomb or explosive", a police spokesman told the BBC News website.

It looks like no one was hurt so that is the most important thing. This could always be a decoy done by Muslims to increase tensions even more. Remember terrorists want chaos and hate, and are willing to kill their own to breed it. Muslims may fear the US now (for no reason) however no Muslim has ever feared for his life at the hands of a Christian terrorist.

I rather suspect I'm replying to the same far right troll making the same point under three different names but ..

If its the case that van gogh was murdered by an Islamist blaming all Muslims for this is a bit like blaming all Catholics for the Omeagh bomb or all Protestants for the actions of Johnny Adair. Islam shares a lot of the authoratarian nature of the Jewish and Christian religion but the relative popularity of the Islamists would not be much greater than that of Johnny Adair or the Real IRA.

I suspect these are far right trolls as who else would applaud the bombing of a school!

The unenlighted one often describes heart of self, by describing heart of other.

and so is it with Smith and Arm Chair.

Muslim soul floated past and said: did i feel fear as i watched the christian bomb approach?

Was there not a Somali Dutch lady who renounced her Islamic faith and took part with Van Gogh in making a documentary condemning human rights violations upon women in Islamic countries?

Apparantly a death list was found at the site of Van Gogh's murder and she is on it.

This murder was vile, not just for the act itself, but also the motives. The Netherlands has had one of the most open, liberal policies of immigration in Europe, and this is how some people feel the country should be rewarded.

Fundies make my blood run cold, be they Jesus freaks from Missisippi or Jihadist fuckwits from Morocco.

Now, with that bit said, I'd like to equally condemn the bombing of the school. Anger is one thing, cowardice another. The people indulging in this behaviour are guilty of the latter. If they had real balls, professionalism and self control, they might do some actual research and track down and expose the actual extremists that endorse Van Gogh's murder.

However, as with many things human, that would be too much hard work, that might actually involve putting ones intellectual and inquistive prowess to work.

The following is a statement released by VU Tegen Racisme condemning the current spate of racist attacks taking place across the Netherlands and calling for protest action and a united front against fascism. A protest action is schedueled for next Tuesday 16 November and will take place on the Vrije Universiteit campus. VU Tegen Racisme is an independent organisation. If individuals or organisations would like to send messages of solidarity, it would be much appreciated. Please send them to the e-mail address above.

VU TEGEN RACISME

ORGANISE AGAINST RACIST TERROR!

The murder of Theo Van Gogh has led to a heightening of racism in society. Vrije Universiteit Tegen Racisme condemns the current spate of racist attacks, including the disgusting bomb attack on an Islamic school in Eindhoven on 7 November, the vandalism of mosques in many cities and the attacks against Muslims in Amsterdam, Breda and Huizen.

These racist attacks come in the context of intensifying stigmatisation and discrimination felt by Muslims, particularly amongst youth. Young Muslims feel increasingly alienated as a result of religious and racial discrimination, police harassment, unemployment, low pay and poor housing. They are also justifiably angry about Balkenende's participation in the so-called 'War on Terror' and about the plight of Muslims in Palestine at the hands of Israel and the imperialist powers. This government has created the conditions for the rise in racism with cuts, right wing demagogy and the scapegoating of immigrants for society's ills.

VU Tegen Racisme also condemns the inflammatory and provocative anti-Muslim posters that have been posted on campus. Such posters are designed to whip up hysteria against Muslims, who already feel marginalised as a result of the Vrije Universiteit's decision to ban the burqa. VU Tegen Racisme opposes this ban as it represents an attack on individual beliefs and political rights. It is Muslim women themselves who must be won to see that the wearing of the burqa is a right, not a duty. VU Tegen Racisme also enforces a 'no platform' position for fascist scum who want to use our campus as a recruiting ground. All boneheads will be confronted and escorted off campus.

VU Tegen Racisme is calling for a protest against the racist attacks to take place on campus on 16 November. Furthermore, we call on the Trade Unions to lead the fight against the racist attacks and the governments assault on civil liberties and right. Meetings should be organised in workplaces, the communities, in schools, colleges and universities, to discuss how to combat racism. Join us on 16 November to voice your opposition to racist terror!

How come "VU Tegen Racisme" didn't organize a protest after Theo was murdered? Isn't that racism? It seems if you're white and Christian or Jewish you can never be the victim of Racism. How intellectually bankrupt do you people get?
