A former chief of the Corrib Gas Project proclaimed that “Corrib will pay no tax” owing to the billions already spent on the decade late project.

Brian O’ Cathain - who was managing Director of Enterprise Energy Ireland before the company was bought out by Shell in 2002 - made the startling claim just before last December’s budget.

Electoral Honesty Commission takes issue with Green Party's Dan Boyle

Dan Boyle, the financial spokesperson for the Green Party, is running in this general election on the platform: ‘Dan Boyle – Honest And True’. But whatever about the veracity of this claim and, let’s face it, politicians are well known for their exaggerations, there appears to be a clear loss of memory by Dan when it comes to owning up to his famous ‘achievements’. Like, for example, bringing the IMF in. Or, like cutting the dole. Or, like consigning a generation of Irish people to a future of emigration. read full story / add a comment

Saturday - Dublin Shell to Sea Stall – 14.00hrs – 15.30hrs St. Stephen’s Green end of Grafton Street – 12th Feb. 2011

An Irish general election fever grips the Country, where promises flow like water running off a mountain, and where the sun, the moon, and the stars are laid at the feet of the people, all for the sake of a no. 1 on the day itself.

From looking around us now you witness the desperate scramble of prospective candidates to get into power in the Dáil, to receive their €100,000 PA salary’s plus expenses. Jobs and Reform appear to be on top of the agenda, yet no one appears to be responsible for the transgressions of the past. Also all these Jobs will not take place without investment, yet since we are effectively broke and availing of an unsustainable loan from the IMF/ECB to pay for the speculators losses, it is hard to see how this promise of jobs will come to pass read full story / add a comment
Passing, consiglieres Mubarak and Suleiman's, Mafia Don's local HQ drew strong anger and contempt

Egypt's on Fire: The winds for democratic change are strongly blowing in that country to dislodge US/Israeli backed traitor Hosni Mubarak and his Obama picked replacement, Omar Suleiman (also, "Israel's favourite Egyptian", Robert Fisk). Yesterday afternoon in Dublin, Egyptians, Arabs, internationals and Irish people of conscience assembled outside the Egyptian Embassy in Clyde Road, Ballsbridge to give the ambassador and all who care to listen a strong message that Mubarak and Suleiman will no longer be endured or tolerated and both have to go and be replaced with true democracy. Judging from the shuttered and closed blinds of the Embassy windows, denial held sway and the blind eye and deaf ear was being turned to the trumpeting elephant inside.? read full story / add a comment

A new development in hunting circles has the obviously hard- up North Galway hunt touting for business on the website DONEDEAL.
Punters are invited to hunt, terrify and dismember foxes in Galway for the day and to celebrate St. Valentines day at a hunt ball with the hunters on Saturday night for 250euro a person. They will have about 75 people out hunting that day. All monies will go to the North Galway hunt.

Please boycott the Westwood Hotel in Galway. Also please send your thoughts on wildlife abuse to both the hunt and the Hotel.

The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) today condemned the decision of the European Commission which stated that “Israel provides an adequate level of protection of personal data”, thus giving the green light for “the transfer of personal data of EU citizens to Israel”[1]. The Irish Government had previously attempted to block this data-sharing relationship, but to no avail. read full story / add a comment

Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign Statement – first published 3rd February 2011

The geo-political status quo of the Middle East is undergoing a dramatic shake-up as the Arab peoples take to the streets to demand their democratic rights in popular uprisings. Mass mobilisations have seen the downfall of the Zine El Abidine Ben Ali dictatorship in Tunisia, while the fate of Hosni Mubarak’s presidency in Egypt remains uncertain as protestors refuse to leave the streets, and smaller scale protests have been taking place in Yemen[1], Algeria[2] and Jordan[3]. read full story / add a comment
