We bring you more good news! The European Union have just announced that they are to ban the trade in seal products into Europe. This good news comes amid fierce opposition from the Canadian government whom have been sending countless delegations to Europe in order to lobby Ministers and MEP’s. Their campaign has been built on lies and bullying tactics. Today’s news will now mean that once the legislation comes into force, it will be illegal to sell or trade in seal products from countries such as Canada where the cruel commercial seal hunt takes place—thus cutting off a major market for seal skins read full story / add a comment

The morning of 17th April last before he was murdered, 30-year-old Basem Ibrahim Abu-Rahma went to the house of Hamis in the village of Bil'in to dispense his medicine - 3 months previously, Hamis sustained head injuries as a result of being struck by the same type high velocity tear gas bullet that would kill Basem, "then off he went to visit another friend in the village who is ill with cancer. Then a little girl from the village wanted a pineapple but couldn’t find any in the local stores. So Basem went to Ramallah to get a pineapple and was back before noon for the Friday prayers and the weekly demonstration against the theft of our land by the apartheid wall" http://www.bilin-ffj.org/index.php?option=com_content&t...id=30. I knew Basem: a ray of light, that always lifted my spirits when I met him and now he's dead, murdered. read full story / add a comment

The Visteon occupations show that we are far from apathetic when it comes to defending our jobs, wages and standard of living. Workers began occupying the Finaghy plant on March 31st, after administrators announced the loss of around 600 jobs at Visteon/Ford plants at Belfast, Basildon and Enfield in England. Davy McMurray, from the Unite trade union, said the way the job cuts were announced was "brutal." Workers were given six minutes notice of their sackings, being treated like mere commodities to be bought and sold, then discarded by our bosses when necessary. read full story / add a comment

If waged employees today do practically all real work, then the capitalist has no role other than collecting dividends, living the high life, and gambling on the Stock Exchange. The big banks, all of which are now kept afloat with our tax money, and most of which are now majority state-owned, are still paying massive “bonuses” to their top people. read full story / add a comment |
