Governments don't stay in power if they make people cold and poor, but that's a lesson Britain's recent and present administrations don't seem to have learned, as green ideology pushes freezing Britain into fuel poverty.

Scannal i bhForas na Gaeilge

category national | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Saturday March 01, 2008 15:44author by Madra Rua Report this post to the editors

Tá duine ar bhord Fhoras na Gaeilge agus é de chumhacht aici airgead stáit a bhronnadh ar a comhlacht féin. Tá meáin na Gaeilge ag diúltú an trasnaíl leasa seo a phlé.

Tá bord nua ar Fhoras na Gaeilge in oifig ó thús na bliana seo. Tá sé de chúram ar an bhForas foilsitheoireacht na Gaeilge a mhaoiniú. I measc na mball den bhord tá Caoilfhionn Nic Pháidín, duine den bheirt stiúrthóirí ar an gcomhlacht foilsitheoireachta Cois Life. Dúirt an ráiteas oifigiúil faoi cheapadh an bhoird gur “ceapadh ó Bhord na Leabhar Gaeilge le bheith ar bhord an Fhorais” í. Mar sin, is léir go mbeidh freagracht ar leith uirthi i dtaobh cúrsaí foilsitheoireachta.

Fágann sé seo go bhfuil cumhacht ag Nic Pháidín airgead stáit a bhronnadh ar a comhlacht féin. Ní hamháin sin, ach beidh cumhacht aici airgead a choinneáil ó chomhlachtaí eile atá in iomaíocht le Cois Life. Is trasnaíl leasa amach is amach é seo.

Tá litreacha scríofa chuig ‘Foinse’ agus ‘Lá Nua’ faoin scannal seo, ach tá diúltaithe acu na litreacha sin a chur i gcló. Ar ndóigh, tá na nuachtáin seo ag brath ar airgead Fhoras na Gaeilge chun maireachtáil. Tá feicthe againn gur cuireadh deireadh leis an iris ‘Comhar’ nuair a bhain an Foras a deontas di, agus gur cuireadh ‘Lá Nua’ i mbaol ar an gcaoi chéanna. Nuair nach mian leis na meáin seo a gcuid deontas a chur i mbaol, is deacair ceist mar seo a ardú.

I láthair na huaire, tá Foras na Gaeilge ag breithniú iarratais ar dheontais ó scríbhneoirí agus foilsitheoirí. Ina measc siúd a dhéanfaidh cinneadh orthu, tá Caoilfhionn Nic Pháidín. Beidh sí ag glacadh lán-pháirt sa phlé ar na hiarratais, agus beidh cumhacht aici vótáil i bhfabhar airgead a thabhairt do Chois Life, agus in aghaidh airgead a thabhairt d’fhoilsitheoirí eile.

Dá dtarlódh a leithéid ar aon bhord stáit eile, chuirfí binse fiosraithe ar bun. An bhfuil pobal na Gaeilge sásta glacadh le caighdeán níos ísle?
