Call for submissions to Indymedia Ireland / Cultivate Documentary Mini-Festival

category international | indymedia ireland | news report author Monday October 04, 2004 19:14author by 1 of Indymedia ireland Report this post to the editors

ak47camera.jpegIndymedia Ireland and Cultivate Sustainable Living Centre are making preparations at present for a three day mini-festival of documentaries to be held in mid-November in the Samuel Beckett Centre in Trinity College Dublin. This is an open call for those who have made something that they would like screened to get in touch as the programme still has quite a bit of room in it for relevant materials.

Please use the contact form on the Indymedia Ireland site HERE to get in touch with the organisers.

It would also be great to hear from people what they would like to see screened at this event. Tell us in the comments section below about stuff you haven't seen but want to see and stuff you have seen and think others should see. You won't be wasting your time because the programme is being invented 'on the fly' at present.

All monies raised from the event will go towards acquiring video projectors for Cultivate and Indymedia Ireland so that more alternative screenings can happen in the future.

"The fundamental problem in the Kerry campaign is the enormous gap between what John Kerry means and what the Republican party says he means... Say what you will about George W. Bush, you always know exactly what he says John Kerry stands for."

''Radical international film makers collective Calle y Media show us the intersection of the war against global neoliberalism (the fourth world war) and the Bolivarian revolution underway in Venezuela. In many ways this film gives us a more complete picture of the forces at work in Venezuela that many saw in 'The Revolution Will Not Be Televised' which focused on the coup of 2002 and the media surrounding it. In this film, we see a history of the rise of Chavez, the writing of the radical Venezuelan constitution, a deeper treatment of global neoliberalism from a radical perspective, as well as hearing from indigenous campesinos.

I've seen many worthy documentaries by those from the Global North that urge and inspire solidarity with the South. This is one of the few where English speakers can hear the voices directly from the South.''
