Today, members of the Galway Alliance Against War held the first of a week-long series of lunchtime “Stop Blair” protests outside Eason’s store on Shop St Galway. There was a positive response from locals and tourists alike to the posters and leaflets labelling Blair a war criminal. On September 9th. 1980 the Plowshares 8 entered the General Electric factory at King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA and began to disarm first strike nuclear weapons components under construction. The folks at Nuclear Resister have put the following slideshow/soundtrack together to mark the 30th. anniversary of the Plowshares movement, Nukewatch and Nuclear Resister. Before FAS existed ,there were training agencies in ireland such as MANPOWER AND ADCO..They were services that worked for the people and not for the purposes of furnishing their greens(euro).. For example,300 people may be required for employment in a warehouse in cork and they would,have people working for manpower and adco,who have the necessary skills to train them,most would have 10+ years experience in a factory setting.. read full story / add a comment ![]()
