This year the IPSC Sponsored Hill Walk will take place on Sunday 28th September 2014. This year we will again be trekking up (and back down) the famous Sugarloaf Mountain in Co. Wicklow. We will be setting off from Kilmacanogue, Co. Wicklow at 11.00am and finishing up with a meal and some liquid sustenance back in Kilmacanogue. The walk will take us up one of Ireland’s most famous small mountains and provide a beautiful view of the surrounding areas. read full story / add a comment

The Irish Penal Reform Trust (IPRT), Ireland’s leading penal reform campaign organisation, has today (Wednesday, 17 September 2014) warmly welcomed the publication of the final report of the Strategic Review on Penal Policy as a blueprint for a fairer and more effective penal system. IPRT endorses the vast majority of the recommendations, and urges the Minister for Justice and Equality to consider their implementation in full. IPRT will closely shadow the implementation of the Review Group’s recommendations, to ensure that Ireland’s criminal and penal policy meets its stated goal of making Ireland “a safer and fairer place.” read full story / add a comment

I am really excited to have such a great line up for you. Coming all the way from the USA, Professor Paul Connett of Fluoride Action Network and the gorgeous red lipped Hot Press journalist Adrienne Murphy will share the whys, the who's and the hows about the fluoride chemicals in our drinking water. The night will be hosted by my good friend and comedian Aidan Killian who will keep the event running smoothly and prevent any of us from over talking (which happens all the time when we start on about fluoride). It seems the US has realised it can cynically exploit the current Ebola crisis to further increase it's military presence in Africa. Speaking at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia Tuesday afternoon, President Barack Obama declared: “Faced with this outbreak, the world is looking to the United States and it is a responsibility we are prepared to embrace. We are prepared to take leadership on this.” This is, of course a load of horseshit. It's just an excuse to bolster US military forces in a resource rich region. read full story / add a comment

Republican Network for Unity shine a light on the revolving door policy of the PSNI regarding ex-RUC officers.
15 years ago the Patten Report consigned the RUC to history and ushered in a new accountable police force, or so we were led to believe. Instead, the people of the 6 counties received an MI5 controlled militia with a revolving door for ex-RUC gunmen. Today (16th September) Drew Harris was appointed as deputy chief constable of the PSNI. Just like his senior George Hamilton, who was appointed chief constable earlier this year, Drew is an ex-RUC officer who was involved in a force that thoughtlessly used shoot-to-kill and oversaw collusion at the highest level read full story / add a comment

The Ukrainian parliament has approved laws on special status for the Donetsk and Lugansk Regions, as well as amnesty for those participating in the hostilities. The special status law has received 277 ‘yes’ votes from a total of 450 MPs, while the amnesty law was approved by 287 parliamentary members. The session of the Verkhovna Rada is underway during which MPs are to ratify an agreement with the EU. The law on the special status of Lugansk and Donetsk Regions guarantees the right to use and study Russian or any other language in Ukraine. For thirteen years a new generation of Americans has been born into the 9/11 myth that has been used to create the American warfare/police state. During the month of 2014 the Israeli stated launched a murderous war against the people of Gaza. They relentlessly bombed the Gaza strip which is perhaps one of the most densely populated areas in the world. People had no where to go and escape.
