The crew or crews of CIA plane have had a busy time recently, including a visit to Guantanamo on 3 June 2008. They arrived at Shannon on Friday 13 June, from Fort Lauderdale in Florida, via Newfoundland. They spent only about 30 minutes refuelling and left immediately for an unknown destination or destinations. On Saturday 14th June they were back at Shannon refuelled and again left quickly at about 12.40 pm on their way back to Florida again via Newfoundland. Today N54PA is back at Shannon for up to 10 hours as its crew probably "rest off" following their ardous and possibly nefarious activities read full story / add a comment ![]()

Bolivian President Evo Morales has led a campaign to get FIFA to revoke its ban on playing football at altitude. Described by Morales as "football apartheid". the ban effectively discriminated against Andean nations Bolivia, Ecuador and Columbia. Three plane-loads of US troops on OMNI Air chargered troop-carriers were at Shannon today 17 June 2008 between 10 am and 11am. They were accompanied by an Evergreen International Boeing 757 that was most likely carrying military logistics including munitions through the airport. Also on the airport was a suspect Bulgarian aircraft, associated in the past with transport of munitions. read full story / add a comment ![]()

Ogra Shinn Fein mobilized activists from across Ireland for yesterday’s protest against US Imperialism at Belfast City Hall. The protest was called in response to George Bush visiting the city. Over 100 Republican activists including Sinn Fein MLA’s and councilors marched with banners and posters from the party’s Sevastopal Street Office to join the joint protest at Belfast City Hall. The Sinn Fein Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness also met with George Bush, and raised Sinn Fein’s objections and concerns over the ongoing occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. read full story / add a comment ![]()

An attack carried out on Friday night at the main Sarposa prison in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar has freed bout 400 political prisoners and 750 others. A water truck full of explosives was driven up to the main gate killing 15 guards and breached the walls. One of the arguments for the way Shell want to operate the Corrib gas field has always been that using a production pipeline/ onshore refinery would limit the need for helicopter flights for workers. Flights to and from offshore rigs are said to be dangerous. Local people have always countered that there was an element of choice in working for Shell, while they had no choice about living next to a high pressure production pipeline. Now however, the director of air safety for Shell has said that helicopter flights are not actually that dangerous at all. An examination of 2,000 helicopter accidents has shown that it was poor air safety systems that were the problem, and the majority of accidents could have been prevented by following more stringent procedures. read full story / add a comment
