This June marks the 40th anniversary of the Israeli invasion of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Thousands marched from Galbally to Cappagh in County Tyrone on Sunday 6 May in memory of the Loughgall Martyrs. Republicans from throughout Tyrone and Ireland gathered to honour the eight brave IRA volunteers who where butchered in the Armagh village of Loughgall 20 years ago by the SAS, on the 8 May 1987. West Tyrone Ógra Shinn Féin have said they are 'not deterred' by an appearance on the combat 18 linked website Redwatch. The Republican youth organisation was photographed at a march outside the BBC offices in Belfast , which was organised in protest at against the media's portrayal of events in the Middle East last summer. Ógra Shinn Féin last weekend claimed back Omagh British army base by erecting an Irish national flag at the front entrance to the base. The action was part of a demilitarisation protest held at the base as a part of an Ógra Shinn Fein national demilitarisation protest. Young people from throughout the 32 counties of Ireland and representatives from the troops of movement, the Wolfe Tone society and the SLP also travelled from England for the weekend. It was the fifth annual demilitarisation protest and according to Ógra chairperson in west Tyrone, Barry McNally was held to ‘Claim Victory on the issue of British demilitarisation’ in the county Tyrone Town. read full story / add a comment

West Tyrone Ógra Shinn Féin organised a tour of Long Kesh Concentration Camp, last Friday 29th September. The tour was very emotive as the delegation visited the hospital wing where 10 Irish Republican Prisoners bravely give their life on Hungerstrike 25 years ago. The Cages, and H4 were also visited. All together 16 Young Republican activists attended the tour and witnessed at first hand Long Kesh, the site of so much tragedy and torture, yet also massive resilience and struggle. At 4.00pm today (9 August), West Tyrone Ogra Shinn Fein held a spontaneous protest in Omagh to highlight the escalating barbaric massacre of the Lebanese people. The Lebanese cannot even bury their dead with dignity as only yesterday Israeli jets bombed a funeral cortage killing 13. Over 1000 leaflets where distributed in the County town of Tyrone to raise awarness about the barbarity and to make a stand against the atrocity. Passing cars honked their horns in support of the protest and many people passing through the town stopped to either join in with the protest or to talk to those handing out leaflets.
