On 3rd March 2002, 22-year-old Palestinian blocklayer and tiler Thaer Hamad from the Ramallah-area village of Silwad, armed with an old WW2 M1 rifle shot 24 Israeli Occupation Forces and their reinforcements at a checkpoint sited in an old British police post on the road between Nablus and Ramallah killing 11 of them in the space of 24 minutes before his weapon blew up on the 25th shot. read full story / add a comment

Sorry to report that the PA through its Israeli, US and Jordanian trained Quisling thugs has now reduced armed struggle to an occasional tokenistic spasm in the West Bank and even nonviolent resistance, in the case of Bil'in, a mockery: PA placemen on the Popular Committee now only permit eunuchized, grand old Duke of York type Friday traipses to the nearby Apartheid-Annexation Wall with anything stronger planned such as a protest against Mubarak's Wall of Shame between Gaza and Egypt nipped in the bud, as it were. read full story / add a comment

Lets face it . The GP is now little more than the bordello of Irish politics. You pay - the harlot performs. She does so at the whim of the punter.And repeats it just so long as he pays. The manner of their Machiavellian march into Dail Eireann under Gormley rather than Sergeant amply demonstrated their lust for the whiff of power- principals were for losers. read full story / add a comment

If Ms de Burca's allegations are to be believed as written her unbridled personal column in today's Irish Times, it would seem that not only have the Greens lost their moral compass ; they have buried it under a host of erstwhile worthy principles. In these circumstances t'would be well were the Green's to bury this current arrangement of their party system and try to reform themselves rigorously before they attempt to resurrect themselves , with any credibility. read full story / add a comment

Israel's Haaretz newspaper is reporting that: Israel's new immigration police has joined security forces in cracking down on foreign activists residing in the Palestinian West Bank ... The Oz Unit participated last week in the attempted arrest of a number of activists in the West Bank town of Bil'in, and also in the raid that nabbed leading Palestinian militants Mohammed Hatib that same night. Two weeks ago, the unit took part in the arrest of a Czech activist in Ramallah. A fact I can attest to as I was one of the "foreigners" and videoographer of the night's brutal proceedings in Bil'in before I had to exit the West Bank at the weekend. read full story / add a comment

As Tony Blair's evidence to the Iraq invasion inquiry , Old Labour ' statesman said yesterday he didnt believe a word of his rambling fiction. Did he really get away with this with his lying by increments, his obscenely flawed rhetoric. His false claims re Saadam and WMD.. the notion of a rogue state ..- the real rogue stat in the region. And do the Brits reall give a dam anyway, as integrity has only an inconvenience and only had £ shop currency. Unless the muscle of the US and its government can be turned around and Obama starts listening to his emissary George Mitchell and to a lesser degree Ms Clinton there will be no real change either in Gaza , the border crossings or any hope of Israeli compliance with International Justice and humanity. Neither can any advancement towards a 2 state solution be even conceived until the Israelis agree to Jerusalem being the Capital City for both Israel and Palestine. read full story / add a comment

Privileged officers of the State getting generous pensions, having taken an oath to the State or to their profession have chosen to go on strike in a wave of rolling industrial actions which set out to subvert some of the most essential services in the State. In other circumstances this would be deemed sedition . Should legal rather than disciplinary action be taken against members of both groups if is is suspected that they are in breach of their contracts? read full story / add a comment

On the 61st anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. - (UDHR) I quote Oscar wilde more than all the others; he more than anyone would have appreciated this charter . It is just that it is not binding .it is not a law. It is aspirational ; but it is inspirational . You don’t need to read it through. The language is turgid in places. Its meant to endure . After 60 years the wording may seem esoteric .but if you re read it , ask yourself ; how else could this be written to relate to all society. I believe it is written for all the children of the womb of the Universe . But , I will confess that I quote Oscar not only because he is one of the most quoted people in the history of English language . read full story / add a comment

While we all agonise about whether our Industry , Agriculture , and all Human activity and endeavour may be responsible for Climate Change there is a theory that cosmic radiation could be responsible for inordinate cloud cover - both Global warming and cooling may be explained by the formation of cloud cover due to solar wind particles which gather about them clouds. The Galway Alliance Against War is throwing a New Year’s Day Peace Party in the Rowing Club in Woodquay Galway on January 1st starting at 7pm and admission is FREE. The Guest of Honour will be Malalai Joya, a female member of the Afghan parliament, who has survived 4 assassination attempts – she is hated by both the Karzai regime that banned her from parliament and the Taliban. Human Rights Watch described her as “the bravest woman in Afghanistan”. GAAW has arranged for a telephone link-up with Ms Joya from her base in the mountains of Afghanistan – Galway’s local peace group believes it will be a truly unique experience for people in Galway to hear first hand why the war in Afghanistan is not the solution to the problems of that troubled country. read full story / add a comment
