I believe it is written for all the children of the womb of the Universe .
On the 61st anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. - (UDHR)
I quote Oscar wilde more than all the others; he more than anyone would have appreciated
this charter . It is just that it is not binding .it is not a law. It is aspirational ; but it is
inspirational . You don’t need to read it through. The language is turgid in places. Its meant to
endure . After 60 years the wording may seem esoteric .but if you re read it , ask yourself ;
how else could this be written to relate to all society.
I believe it is written for all the children of the womb of the Universe .
But , I will confess that I quote Oscar not only because he is one of the most quoted people in
the history of English language .
On the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. - (UDHR)

I believe it is written for all the children of the womb of the Universe .
But , I will confess that I quote Oscar not only because he is one of the most quoted people in
the history of English language .
Sometimes I refer to this document. Perhaps I have a need to. The travesty of war is such a
manifest failure of civilisation. Not just the West - or the Middle East - Africa , It is the
omniscient sin of the Son and Daughter of the womb of civilisation, I refer to that a lot here.
I find solace in the fact that some woman 60 years ago brought this concept to the world . she
was of course Eleanor Roosevelt .
In my own life I can see my own many failings in this ; it is like shining a light into the darkest
recesses of my conscience .
But still it brings much solace , not because its tenets are not defiled every day - they are . But
if we are to believe anything about mercy , forgiveness, understanding, patience , tolerance
etc this document had to be written . I believe it will endure as much as the Bible. It is the fons
in origio so to speak ; the fountain or spring of all hope.
I quote Oscar Wilde more than all the others; he more than anyone would have appreciated
this charter . He who suffered so much violation of the person ; the stripping of his dignity;
his ostracisation from society
This declaration It is just that ; it is not binding .it is not a law. It is aspirational ; but it is also
inspirational . You don’t need to read it through. The language is turgid in places. Its meant to
endure . After 60 years the wording may seem esoteric .but if you re read it , ask yourself ;
how else could this be written to relate to all society.
I believe it is written for all the children of the womb of the Universe .
But , I will confess that I quote Oscar not only because he is one of the most quoted people in
the history of English language . But he is also Irish.
In Debtors' Yard the stones are hard,
And the dripping wall is high,
So it was there he took the air
Beneath the leaden sky,
And by each side a Warder walked,
For fear the man might die.
Or else he sat with those who watched
His anguish night and day;
Who watched him when he rose to weep,
And when he crouched to pray;
Who watched him lest himself should rob
Their scaffold of its prey.- Oscar Wilde - The Ballad Of Reading Gaol

Universal Declaration of Human Rights. - (UDHR)
Understanding ;
Understanding over impatience or in tolerance . Understanding with patience ,with mercy
.with clemency , with wisdom in justice.
With the capacity to listen despite the temptation to shout down . To listen with generosity of
sirit . to try to know the other's pain. To accept with serenity the things you cannot change .
‘ I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. — Voltaire?
Deliverance ;
Deliverance from torture , from oppressions , from suppression of human rights. Deliverance
from intolerance , bigotry , from segregation ; for the right to speak freely, and articulate your
faith ; your belief system -from the denial to speak that belief from the highest mountain and
the public square , on any air waves .
The wise man in the storm prays God, not for safety from danger, but for deliverance from
fear. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson, Journals, 1833
Deliver us from evil - and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive … - The Lords Prayer
Humanitarianism;
Humanitarianism in every aspect of the persons being , respect for his dignity . Freedom to
work and expect a fair wage, to enjoy generosity ; to reward self sacrifice with its spirituality .
To experience Piety and good counsel.To expect a humane and fair judicial system ,
appointed by a democratically elected legislature .
He does not know that sickening thirst
That sands one's throat, before
The hangman with his gardener's gloves
Slips through the padded door,
And binds one with three leathern thongs,
That the throat may thirst no more.- Oscar Wild .
Respect;
Respect for the individual soul for every son and daughter from the womb of the Universe, To
expect patience , and have the fortitude to persevere where it is denied us ; for the courage
we need when at first attempt we failed, and the faith to try and try again,the resignation to
accept that if we fail, that course may not have been for us anyway. The respect to expect
moderation from each brother while persevering in the self to exercise modesty . The respect
to admire Piety in others. To have the humility within us thaat when we triumphwe have the
capacity to suppress all hubris.
Self-respect cannot be hunted. It cannot be purchased. It is never for sale. It cannot be
fabricated out of public relations. It comes to us when we are alone, in quiet moments, in
quiet places, when we suddenly realize that, knowing the good, we have done it; knowing we
have served it; knowing the truth we have spoken it. ~Whitney Griswold

In Reading gaol by Reading town
There is a pit of shame,
And in it lies a wretched man
Eaten by teeth of flame,
In a burning winding-sheet he lies,
And his grave has got no name.
And there, till Christ call forth the dead,
In silence let him lie:
No need to waste the foolish tear,
Or heave the windy sigh:
The man had killed the thing he loved,
And so he had to die.
And all men kill the thing they love,
By all let this be heard,
Some do it with a bitter look,
Some with a flattering word,
The coward does it with a kiss,
The brave man with a sword!
Oscar Wilde - The Ballad of Reading Gaol
