Mark Zuckerberg's repudiation of Covid-era censorship is welcome. But it's not enough, say Josh Stylman and Jeffrey Tucker. Without a public reckoning they will just do it all again when a cause seems urgent enough.

Israel's death machine reaps another innocent victim in Bil'in, Palestine.

Jawaher Abu Rahmah (36) dies from tear gas poisoning

All last night, doctors at a Ramallah hospital fought for the life of Jawaher Abu Rahmah, but, sadly, they fought in vain as they were unable to save her from the toxic effects of tear gas poisoning inhaled at last Friday's peaceful protest against that crime against humanity on the outskirts of Bil'in; the Apartheid-Annexation Wall.

Jawaher was the sister of Bassem Abu Rahmah, shot down in cold blood and at point blank range by an Israeli occupation soldier at another peaceful protest against the Wall on 17th April 2009 - this murder is still unpunished.

Jawaher was also the sister of Ashraf Abu Rahmah who's shooting in the foot by an IOF soldier whilst blindfolded, plasticuffed and helpless drew worldwide revulsion and outrage when the video of it was uploaded on YouTube.

Mondoweiss is reporting that: Mohammed Khatib, a member of the Bil'in Popular Committee said this morning: "We are shocked and furious for Israel's brutality, which once again cost the life of a peaceful demonstrator. Israel's lethal and inhumane response to our struggle will not pass. In the dawn of a new decade, it is time for the world to ask Israel for accountability and to bring about an end to the occupation." Adv. Michael Sfard, who represents the village in an appeal against the Wall added: "The son was killed by a directly aimed projectile, the daughter choked in gas. Two brave protestors against a regime that kills the innocent and doesn't investigate its criminals. We will not quiet, we will not give up, we will not spare any effort until those responsible will be punished. And they will."

Bil'in, still traumatised by the murder of Bassem is numb with yet another Israeli inflicted sorrow at the moment, but, come this Friday the villagers, knowing them from a seven months stay there, will be out in strength to remember her the best way they can; at the Wall protesting with the words of Irish national hero Terence McSwiney very much in mind: "It is not those who can inflict the most, but those that can suffer the most who will prevail.".
