press release
Wednesday June 23, 2010 16:23 by Ardoyne Republican - Greater Ardoyne Residents Collective
A common sense approach to forthcoming parades must prevail. To that end, G.A.R.C. take this opportunity to call upon Catholic/Nationalist and Republican people from near and far to come and stand shoulder to shoulder with the beleaguered Ardoyne community for the twelfth of July parade. Only together can we stop being treated as second-class citizens at the behest of sectarian bigots. On June 7th 2010, the Greater Ardoyne Residents Collective (G.A.R.C.) delivered a letter to a number of community, political groups and Parties who represent the Ardoyne community including, N/Belfast M.L.A., Gerry Kelly. |

Jump To Comment: 1And no offence intended. But if you are opposed to these 'sectarian bigots' might it be an idea to broaden your call from being to 'Catholic/Nationalist and Republican people'? Who knows, you might even get a response from a non-bigot protestant. Without them there would not be any organised republicanism on this island. The Roman church aint been that fond of republicanism down through our history. Look for a copy of Flann Cambell's 'The Dissenting Voice', Protestant Democracy in Ulster from Plantation to Partition (Blackstaff Press, 1991).
After reading send a copy to the local Orange Lodge with an invitation to a discussion on neutral ground. I'm not being facetious or flippant. I have an idea what goes on. I've been in Portadown for the glorious fiasco. Common sense dont live in trenches, and dont rule out 'deals or negotiations'. Its bad tactics, if nothing else. Slan.
