this event:

Steiner / Waldorf education: public lecture
"Choice in education: re-imagining childhood"
Pearse O'Shiel

This is the first in a series of 6 talks on Steiner / Waldorf education, working towards
the opening of a Steiner / Waldorf primary school in Dublin in 2011 and supporting
the existing network of kindergartens.

Pearse O'Shiel (MA in Education) is a gifted and inspiring speaker who has dedicated
his life to nurturing the spirit of creativity and wholeness in each child. He is one of the
most experienced Waldorf teachers in Ireland and a leading light in the movement for
real alternatives to mainstream education. Over the past quarter-century he has been
a driving force behind the development of Steiner / Waldorf education in Ireland at all
levels, from early childhood to active learning for adolescents.

A past master at turning dreams into reality, Pearse co-founded the Irish Steiner Kindergarten
Association. He successfully campaigned for State recognition and funding of Steiner /
Waldorf schools in Ireland and established Lifeways, the patron body for Steiner schools.
He is chair of Lifeways and plays a leading role in education through Steiner schools in
Ireland, as well as being secretary of the Camphill Community Trust, a network of communities
working with people with special needs. Pearse's talks combine down-to-earth practicality
with the vision of a better childhood for all.

Wednesday, 23 June, 7.30 pm
Cultivate Centre, St. Andrew's Street, Dublin 2
All welcome; €10 entry / ISKA members €5 (you can join on the night)

Organised by Saoirse Waldorf kindergarten (www.saoirsewaldorf.com) and
the Irish Steiner Kindergarten Association (ISKA) (www.steinerireland.org).

Hi Mags,

The cost is per talk - it covers speaker travel and accommodation and the cost of the venue.
