I agree fully with Napper, $inn Fein have sold out their Republican principles to gain the acceptance of the DUP and the British, you can fool yourself if you want but $inn Fein are merely a replacement for the SDLP. The difference being that while no one died to bring the SDLP to prominence as the Main Nationalist Party the same can't be said for the $hinners.
As for the Dissident Republicans surely now is the time for them to learn from the mistakes of the past that violence will achieve nothing, Nothing what-so-ever.
Irish republicanism for over 200 years has struggled for the independence and self-determination of the Irish people. The Belfast agreement secures the status of the 6 counties within the United Kingdom, and through the cross-border bodies draws the 26 counties further into the orbit of the U.K. All this Provisional Sinn Fein supports. All Ireland, North and South, with the active support of Provo S.F. is being fully integrated into the Anglo-American political economy. The clowns in Republican S.F., and the amadawns who back the fascist, McGeough, make the development of a real republican alternative all the more difficult. To blithely assume that the alternative must be violent is just plain stupidity.
Please enlighten me on what principles of republicanism Sinn Féin have sold off, we are still dedicated to liberty, equality, justice and fraternity in a united republic, or do you use republicanism as a by-word for an inability to live in reality?
Violence is not a principle of Irish republicanism, so I was not referring to the 'right' to wage war.
Anyone notice that the orders sold were written in, erm, English??
Bit of a slip-up there wouldn't you say? The Gaelic League and so on. 1916 and the 'Irish Republic'. Saorstat or Phoblacht, anyone?
The 'GA' version of Indy gives us the dates in Irish - wooow!! Glad I spent years in (compulsory) Irish lessons just so I could read dates. So retro.
"The protesters gathered outside the Auction room and chanted 'Ireland's History is Not For Sale!'""
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but....yes it is. But of course some people try to reason that 2+2=5

How do ye all feel about the FF party selling bits of Tara to the highest bidder
in re-zoning controversy?
You mean principles, such as the right to wage an unwinnable war, without any support (and, in fact, in the teeth of opposition from the peopel yo uare supposedly liberating), so that you can stay pure minded? That kind of 'principle'?
Well Done! Its a shame that Irish historical artifacts are being sold off like this. Perhaps, also if you have the time, you will protest the selling of Irish republican principles.
