event notice
Tuesday January 30, 2007 21:38 by LM - Victims of Legal Profession Society
Following two more successful meetings last week in Killarney and Manor Hamilton, two further meetings are planned. The First takes place in the Bridge Hotel, Tullamore on Wednesday 7th February at 8.00pm. The second meeting is organised for Letterkenny, Co Donegal on Mon 25th February at the Mount Errigal hotel at 8.00pm. The VLPS meetings allow people who have, or have had, problems with lawyers to meet up and share experiences and hear from others who are taking charge of their affairs themselves and taking the system on as lay litigants. People attending will get information on how to stand up to solicitors and will draw courage from John Gill who is shaking the "powers that be" out of their complacency or worse. All interested parties are welcome at VLPS meetings. Every week this year, John Gill and VLPS members are active. Come to the meetings and learn about our aims and our actions and share your own ideas and experiences. In this election year VLPS is raising its campaign. |

Just for the record; mc dowell uncle was shot on benbulben when part of IRA unit by free state army in 1922
You are right of course. That uncle was from his mothers side who were ant-treaty. His paternal grand-father was Eoin McNeill who was a leader of the Free Staters who shot the man in Sligo. It was Eoin McNeill who "dithered" about 1916 and collapsed altogether on the boundary commission.
Can we agree that McDowell has a very complex political position? In my view he is all over the place, which amounts to the same thing. Unless and until he finds a bit more stability and clear headedness, I think he is a dangerous man in office and he along with a number of others, would benefit from a spell in opposition.
Imagine, passing confidential papers in a bar room, taken from his Department's files, to journalist Sam Smith about another journalist, Frank Connolly just because he had a gripe with Frank Connolly. Imagine also, comparing the mild- mannered, intellectual, Richard Bruton with Joseph Goebbels. Finally, in relation to the arrest of the journalist last week, imagine a Minister, swearing "on his honour" in the Dail that he didn't do it. And then squeeling that his Secretary General did it. Talk about moral cowardice of the highest order. Any school boy would have more moral courage than that. What Civil Servant would want to work for a boss that runs away from you and dumps on you like that.
Whatever happened to the PD mantra of political responsibility.
Our hard won liberties are not in safe in this man's hands. Lets put him into opposition til he matures a bit.
