Stalker Alert in Rathmines.

category dublin | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Saturday March 18, 2006 10:56author by The Strawberry Girl Report this post to the editors

Gentleel Man in old fashioned dress who gets off on fear.

A well dressed male in his fifties, dressed in a tweed sports jacket and trousers, wearing a hunting or fishing hat, which seemed outlandisly old-fashioned stalked me from the bank of ireland through the Swan Centre , except that I only became aware that he was doing this when I got to the most mundane of places, the fish counter. The place to discuss the price of fish and smile in to your eyes, to grab your hand and hit on you. Fair enough, let go my hand. I don't want to go for a coffee, in fact I have an appointment. The grip on my hand got harder and he kept eye-contact as he ground my ring into the bone of my finger. There we are standing in a crowded shop in broad daylight and he is getting his jollies by studying minutely the change in my face from friendliness, to awareness,to fear.
He wants to capture that and take it home with him.I ripped my hand away and
continued shopping, he followed me through three aisles. Why didn't I shout, or land him on the floor or ask for help? I still don't know the answer to the question.
I reported it to the manageress , who gave a descrition to security guy, who stood watching me pack up and walked me to the door. He tells me to get a cup of tea and come back . They will pull the cctv. Thanks security guy. I returned with a friend an hour later. I haven't heard anything since. I suppose that it looked almost mundane on the footage.

So tell me is it flashing brought to a new level of sociopathy, assault or masturabotroy fantasy?

I would have let it go. But it played in my head all day and I know that he picked me out and did it purposefully. My little girl was not with me. How far does he want to go. The game , I think is to see how far he can get and he might pick the wrong girl.

Thus I am reporting it.He is ,as I said in his fifties. friendly. Very thin. Small face.
He was wearing tweeds, a hunting or fishing hat.He spoke with a slight accent and has a strong grip, which I presume satisfies his desire to cause pain. If anyone sees the man, report him to security at the Swan or the gardai.

From what you say about the way he crushed your hand, there's little or no room for doubt about this. This is a violent criminal, an aggressive man who may have abused women or girls before and who may be looking for women who can be bullied into further abuse, and even rape. And he may have a psychiatric condition that will respond to treatment.

Have you reported him to the Gardaí? That's what they're there for, after all. Not to facilitate the CIA torture shuttle passing through Shannon, but among other things to protect women from violent assault.

If a strong person like you doesn't do everything you can to make it difficult for this man to go about his abusive business of assaulting women, then he may go on to abuse somebody more vulnerable.

Best,
Coilín.

I had a similar experience in Bewley's a couple of years ago. The man was escorted out by security once I'd managed to alert them. He started shouting abuse once I made it clear I wasn't interested in engaging with him, and everybody around pretended not to notice. He very overtly aggressive, and I wondered who his next. When you scratch beneath the surface (or merely read the research), you find there are very few women who haven't had such an experience at some stage in their lives, either as a girl or an adult. That's a fact I've always found disturbing.

Think I saw yer man looking very inocuous walking along the park side of Kenilworth today as I left my daughter's home!!! Certainly the tweeds and a big hat. But perhaps not - he did not strike me as overly thin or tall, medium sized rather, and rather greyfaced, with ??? some hair on face. Could it be??

Thanks, he was too thin for his height, which may have made him appear elongated, taller. he had a grey complexion , definitely. He was right up into my face at one point, as he was squeezing my hand. it was scary, but I put it up as a public notice. re reporting , I did not go to the gardai as Dunnes said that they would hand over the cctv footage to them. I left my name and number with them.
I do feel it was serious and it worried me.

Did he have beady eyes and glasses by chance? Portly and missing most of his hair save for a bit of fair hair on each side, pointy nose? Speak in a pompous arrogant manner? Rant on about republican consiracies etc? Oh, hang on, Im mixing your weirdo up with the other sicko from Ranelagh, a member of a far right minicule party of gov.

Hope you never bump into either of them again,

He had nothing attached to his arm to stop that flap he suffers from. note, whenever there is a big meeting or media event , he carries something under his arm to straighten it. how amazing must it be to paid a lot of money to tell him that! Have not seen the other dude, but will peel my eyes.
