China and the United States go head to head over human rights abuses

category international | anti-war / imperialism | news report author Thursday March 09, 2006 10:33author by Seán Ryan Report this post to the editors

China has launched a scathing reply to the American State Department's yearly report on Human Rights Violations.

China has lashed the American administration, with a scathing report, which outlines American human rights violations, both abroad and domestic. This was in response to the American State Department's annual report on Human Rights abuses. The Americans condemned human rights abuses in more than 190 countries, but failed to mention any of its own numerous violations.

China has corrected all this. Gun violence in the States is discussed (more than 10,000 people die every year in the States from gunshot wounds). Racism is discussed and it is pointed out that black people are more prone to receive harsher sentences for serious crime than white people, especially where execution is concerned. Social equality is also discussed.

China has condemned American foreign policy. It accuses the States of "Pursuing unilateralism on the international arena, the U.S. government grossly violates the sovereignty and human rights of other countries." The report states that, "The U.S. government frequently commits wanton slaughter of innocents in its war efforts and military operations in other countries."

The report also highlights American use of torture, and it accuses America of victimising Muslims, "flaunting the banner of anti-terrorism."

This could turn very nasty. President Hu Jintao is due to visit the States next month.

rather like the choice "state :+: church", the choice "P.R. china :+: U.S.A." invites the thinker to choose between two evils, by criticising one more, and therefore inadvertently giving strength to the other.
The poor and oppressed of both superstates are for the most part ignorant of the true conditions of the others live in. One a society of arrogant illiterates needs no control on google but monitors its peoples opinions more, the other a society of humble sophisticates not trusted with key mathematical or scientific research papers or feed their kids. But in both the children of the nouveau riche wax fat and spoilt and capitalism is "embraced", in both the same business types as ever plot new ways to sell things to the american or chinese peoples at profit.
We have work as global activists to do in both societies, but the work is different, and to choose sides ought not come into. & our work in China is about to enter new phases. There is no fudge with .:. liberty, equality and fraternity .:. We have never attempted to place the ne plus ultra on the course of either side of that "trinity". Well done China for making the list of US abuses! Well done US for making the list of Chinese abuses! Well done peoples of both China and the US for getting on with it.
@ end we must always be on the side of the poorer and weaker...

this is not very relevant but is a chinese joke which has been doing the rounds in PPC;
{ An american and a chinese talk, the american lists the achievement of capitalism : "we recycle our orange skins, and make orange juice which we sell to the Chinese people, we recycle our used bubblegum and make condoms which we then sell to the Chinese people." The Chinese person smiles, " ah yes, we recycle our used condoms and make bubblegum which we then sell to the American people @ profit".

Back to Sean's article references :- "compare and contrast" (PPC :+: USA)

The 10,000 who die from gun crime in the US every year are not killed by the government - they are individual Americans killed by other individual Americans who have the right to bear arms. Black people in America commit more crime than any other ethnic group - the Irish, Italians, Jews and the Hispanic community once an uneducate minority with living standards worse than Black have now surpased their incomes moved out of the ghettos to middle class areas - the problems of Black people since the Civil Rights Acts can no longer be blamed on White America - most murders in America are by blacks against blacks. The inequality of blacks in America once could be blamed on whites but is now largely their own faulty. Racism is no longer institutionalised though it still among individuals and sub groups.

As regards America's violation of the sovereignty of other countries?

Do you mean Nazi Germany?
Fascist Italy?
Imperial China?
North Korea?
Communist Vietnam?
Grenada?
Lebanon?
Somalia?
Kuwait?
Serbia?
Iraq?

All these countries were once dominated by totalitarian genocidal regimes.
The US military intervene to put an end the ideological forces of Fascism and Communism and is fighting the ideologies of Islamic and Baathist movements in the Middle East as we speak.
Why should America be condemned for disrespecting the sovereignty of dictators such as Saddam?

China has been a tyranny since the days of the first Emperorers. Now it is the greatest dictatorship on the planet enslaving more than 2 Billion people under system of repression that boggles the mind.

"China has been a tyranny since the days of the first Emperorers. Now it is the greatest dictatorship on the planet enslaving more than 2 Billion people under system of repression that boggles the mind."

Why hasn't the USA moved in to sort this out?

Or is it only weaker nations that America is brave enough to sort out?

I wasn't excusing China's violations, I was pointing out that both nations are guilty of human rights violations.

You seem to be under the mistaken opinion, that America saved the world from Nazi Germany. Total bullshit. Up until the 'attack' on Pearl Harbour, the USA didn't give a damn and acted only in her own interests (as usual). Whilst the world gutted itself, the USA developed arms and weapons technologies. After Japan got nuked. America helped carve up the spoils, and we've suffered from this ever since. No area on the planet redefined after WW2 by the imperialiast Americans et al has ever known peace.

America has never brought peace to a nation.

America has violated the sovereignty of my nation. Perhaps you'd like to lump us Irish in with the Nazi's too.

CIA all over Shannon Airport (Warport). CIA are spies and exist to defy the sovereign laws of nations. A spy in a foreign country has no other purpose.

Why should America not be bound to respect the rights of foreigners in their own countries (collateral damage)? Why does a foreigner in his own homeland not deserve the same respect from your government that your Government owes you? Ie. your constitutionally guaranteed rights.

You suggest that 10,000 gunshot deaths in your country every year has nothing to do with your government?

Less than half that started this 'war on terror.'

Least ye coud do is drop a few cluster bombs in some ghetto. That'd sort some of it out. Don't forget to leave plenty of depleted uranium around just to make sure.

To cap it all you ignorant hick. Black people are not responsible for racist attitudes about them and are not responsible for being treated like lower lifeforms. Why do these statistics you mangle exist?

Racism.

Same as your foreign policy.

Wake up and smell the shite!
