The Guardian, of all papers, has acknowledged that predictions about the disappearance of Arctic sea ice may ? just may ? have been exaggerated. Paging Gore Vidal: Can we have that prize back please?

Starmer Accused of Hypocrisy Over Lucy Connolly Prosecution Thu Aug 21, 2025 09:00 | Toby Young
As Director of Public Prosecutions, Keir Starmer urged restraint when it came to prosecuting people for social media posts. Why, then, was the book thrown at Lucy Connolly?

The Climate Change Committee's Fifth Carbon Budget, produced 10 years ago, got its predictions about the price of gas in 2025 and the price of renewables predictably wrong, says Ben Pile.

go on lads, give 'em hell.
green paint will scare the shite out of them wimpy brits.
First off - you completely ignored the points I raised in my original post . Have you no comment/point of view on the issues I posted on ?
"While I expect a anti-SF response, can you really discount the only political party which has massive support from the republican community in ireland..is your mission to subvert this constituency ? "
-- My response was anti- Provisional SF ; I do not support any Leinster House party , believing , as I do , that none of them have a Republican agenda . If I were to support a political party simply because others did so then I would probably support FF - they have , after all , "massive support" in areas where others have not . My "mission" is to attempt to "subvert" British mis-rule in this country - not assist in maintaining same .
".I still believe that unity, followed by the building and maintaining of an irish socialist republic must be achieved by any means necessary... "
-- Agreed . But how does the following fit in to your equation -
"We are really prepared to work an executive . We are really prepared to administer British rule in Ireland for the foreseeable future . The very principle of partition is accepted . " - Francie Molloy , March 1999 . How will doing that achieve your stated objective ?
"It is not the falling that matters, but the landing."
-- That would depend on where you are falling from . The top of Stormont , perhaps ... ?
Sharon .
An end to british rule in Ireland and the dismantling of the sectarian state of 1921.
Is that not the aim ?
How is postering as a political purist going to get progress on this issue ?
How is sounding like the brit / freestate intelligence services going to achieve irish freedom?
While I expect a anti-SF response, can you really discount the only political party which has massive support from the republican community in ireland..is your mission to subvert this constituency ?
While I am not a patient person, I have always believed that irish unity should have happened yesterday..I still believe that unity, followed by the building and maintaining of an irish socialist republic must be achieved by any means necessary.
It is not the falling that matters, but the landing.
.... before ye head out with the green paint .
Same as you do for the Easter Lilies .
And for commemorations and parades .
When the 'permit' is put in front of you - sign it ; as is done with the 'permission' form before you run for election in the Six Counties .
"(P) Sinn Fein is no longer the party of protest and resistance : it is the party of change . " - Tom Hartley (PSF) , 'AP/RN' ,
May 15 , 1997 , page 11 .
Perhaps Tom WAS just talking about the post-boxes.
Sharon .
"activists" my ass. You're only annoying your paymasters. You've had 19-20 years to realise where your controllers were heading... oh wait, most of you weren't alive then. Might wanna check your history books BEFORE you hit the streets next time "activists".
just as well theyve jacked in the war . If they cant even paint a few postboxes without being scooped by the peelers its as well they werent trying to spray the local barracks . I wonder who touted on them , yet again .
Péinteáileadh boscaí litreach?
Anois dá phéinteáilfí buí geal nó corcra iad, bheadh buaileadh bos ag dul do Phicasso is a chúntóirí.
Ach i ndáirire, nárbh fhearrde díbh tithe a phéinteáileadh atá ina ngá cheal airgid nó acmhainní?, lucht seanaoise, abair, nó baintreacha nó lucht dífhostaithe?
It looks as if the British state might be set on testing out the provo capitulation in the time honoured fashion - pogroms. It's the only way of really knowing whether the taigs have really lay down or not. But now they have their answer .Painting the post boxes green in Tyrone .
"After Ireland is free, says the patriot who won’t touch socialism, we will protect all classes, and if you won’t pay your rent you will be evicted same as now. But the evicting party, under command of the sheriff, will wear green uniforms and the Harp without the Crown, and the warrant turning you out on the roadside will be stamped with the arms of the Irish Republic. Now, isn’t that worth fighting for?
...
“With the Green Flag floating o’er us” and an ever-increasing army of unemployed workers walking about under the Green Flag, wishing they had something to eat. Same as now! Whoop it up for liberty!"

But sure give him a few years and its
"On Sunday, April 16, 1916, let the date be forever remembered, Dublin witnessed a scene that moved thousands of men and women to tears of joy and thanksgiving. On that day the Irish Citizen Army, the armed forces of Labour, on the top of the headquarters of the Irish Transport Workers’ Union, hoisted and unfurled the Green Flag of Ireland, emblazoned with the Harp without the Crown, and as the sacred emblem of Ireland’s unconquered soul fluttered to the breeze, the bugles pealed their defiant salute, and the battalion presented arms, strong men wept for joy, and women fainted with emotion."

Provo comment, copied from above:
'Anyone who thinks that Lifford in Co. Donegal and Strabane in Co. Tyrone are in two different countries, they need their head checked'.
And I say: anyone who in 2005 thinks that it matters a fuck whether Strabane/ Lifford are within the same jurisdiction needs their head examnined.
Don't you guys have something more substantial and wotrthwhile to worry about? Don't you have wives or husbands or same sex partners to shag???? Christ, you must be bonkers.......
Nonviolent direct action beats parliamentarism anytime. Keep it up lads. Ignore that border
Hardcore lads, really hardcore. The Unionists must be shitting themselves over this strategic movement.
Isnt it strange how many Republic threads have popped up lately? The pub provos must be running out of songs down the boozer.
As for unity, see my other post about this. Its not happening folks without a majority decision to do so.

maybe they could enlighten us as to when unification is going to happen ? Is the Stormont agreement in the bin now ??
Interesting to see that the young provos have nothing better to be doing than going around painting tribal territorial markers.
