Public Meeting: Dublin & Monaghan Bombings

category dublin | rights, freedoms and repression | event notice author Saturday June 04, 2005 17:41author by Shane Holden - Ógraauthor email ogra at ireland dot comauthor phone 086 8474869 Report this post to the editors

Featured Speakers: Sen Martin Mansergh & Joe Tiernan

Dún Laoghaire Ógra Fianna Fáil will be hosting a public meeting regarding the Dublin and Monaghan Bombings, entitled 'Justice for the Forgotten?'.

Speakers at the event are Senator Martin Mansergh and journalist Mr. Joe Tiernan, author of the controversial book 'The Dublin and Monaghan Bombings and the Murder Triangle'.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Dún Laoghaire Ógra secretary Shane Holden stressed that "this event shall help revive awareness of the Dublin and Monaghan Bombings amongst the general public, and in turn aid the cause of those searching for justice for their loved ones who lost their lives due to the deplorable terrorist acts that took place on the 1st December 1972, 20th January 1973 and 17th May 1974 in this state.”

Ógra Chairperson Jennifer Allen added "We feel that this is a very topical issue at present and we wanted to give local people the opportunity to hear these expert speakers' views about the issue. This is one in a series of public meetings that Dún Laoghaire Ógra Fianna Fáil intends to hold in the coming months, and it is fitting that an important subject such as this be the first in that series".

The event shall take place in the Kingston Hotel, Dún Laoghaire on the 8th of June, with the meeting scheduled to commence at 8.30pm. With speakers of the calibre of Senator Martin Mansergh and Joe Tiernan it looks set to be an educational and interesting night. A 'questions and answers' session with the speakers shall also take place that night as to allow for greater audience participation in the discussions.
