As for psychological damage - you only have to live another country for a little while to see how Ireland ahs a schizoid image of itself. You can see this psychological damage in the way irish people talk to each other, in the way they use English. This would take a book, to explain and I'm no writer but you wouldn't be able to see the damage unless you spent a lot of time outside the country.

Speaking thelanguage of the oppressor makes us sick. See the pathetic ways we try to differentiate ourselves from the English - Celtic football club, Fields of Athenry, Eircom football shirts. it's not much of a culture, is it?

We all know that irish is i mbéal an bháis but I don't want it to die on my watch, It's the language my forefathers spoke before Christ was born and we should rage against the dying of the light.

It's only our colonial attitudes towards Irish that's preventing a revival like that of Hebrew.

300,000 think of all the operations that could pay for, depending on the treatments between six and maybe a thousand ingrown toenails at current prices when you bring in the cost of administration and overheads. This sort of money falls between the cracks and is hardly shocking, its the larger sums that matter, though i feel that the poster just hates irish because of the way its foisted on us and will be shocked at any funding it recieves, if only we all still spoke latin and didnt waste money on english think of the sums of money we could save on that illogical arguement.
