Imposing a President

A third-world country would come to your mind if you read in a newspaper that three political parties, who got their power through the barrels of guns, connived to impose a President of their state on its citizens. The country is the Republic of Ireland in the second decade of the twenty-first century.

you'd have to wonder why they keep something open that nobody takes any notice of and should have been shut down ages ago .Corrupt people have personal vested interests in keeping up the show you'd have to suppose.

President has no power in Ireland.

It's just a retirement home for some lucky parasite politician at the taxpayer's expense.
5000 euro per week is the current wage for this vestigial position.

That sum alone would pay for about 10 extra nurses at 500 euro per week doing actual useful work
as opposed to some powerless dwarf spewing hot air not actually helping anyone
in any practical way.

This is not including all the other many costs related to maintaining this ridiculous and vestigial office.

Rather than having another pointless and wasteful election circus ending
in the same pointless expensive office being perpetuated I suggest we save money
and just replace the office with a simple computer program
which randomly selects from a pool of inspiring but vague platitudes when called upon
and generates a "max headroom" dwarfish styled video display to match
those vague but inspiring utterances. Or maybe a "S1m0ne" style female president avatar. Who cares?

There are plenty of bad poetry generators available free on the internet too.
We could tap into that resource too.

Nobody would really notice the difference much, but those waiting for healthcare would certainly notice
the effect of 10 or more extra permanent nursing staff
