Monsanto Roundup Linked to Global Boom in Celiac Disease and Gluten Intolerance

category international | environment | other press author Friday March 28, 2014 16:00author by T Report this post to the editors

Roundup the weed-killer used with GM crops

Recent research has found a link between the use of the Monsanto weed-killer Roundup which is used with all GM crops. It is used because the genetic material added to GM crops makes them resistant to Roundup. Normally any crop sprayed with too much weed killer not only kills the weeds but begins to kill the crop. The use of GM crops allows you to spray even more of the stuff.

Residues of Roundup has to be on and in the plants and this is where the research picks this up.

The report carried at the link below states:

Celiac disease, gluten intolerance and irritable bowel syndrome are on the rise worldwide, and that rise has taken place in parallel with the increased use of glyphosate (Roundup) herbicide, shows a new US peer-reviewed paper from Dr. Anthony Samsel and Dr. Stephanie Seneff. The review has been published in the Journal of Interdisciplinary Toxicology

Roundup is linked in Samsel and Seneff’s new review paper to a major increase in celiac disease. A recent estimate suggests that one in twenty people in North America and Western Europe now suffer from this gluten intolerant disease.

“All of the known biological effects of glyphosate – cytochrome P450 inhibition, disruption of synthesis of aromatic amino acids, chelation of transition metals, and antibacterial action – contribute to the pathology of celiac disease,” Samsel and Seneff’s paper states.

Monsanto’s Glyphosate (Roundup) has become the number one selling herbicide worldwide, due to the increase in the planting of Roundup Ready GM Crops.

with Obama's TTIP love in in the EU recently, be assured we will all be flooded with monsanto crops and roundup in the not too distant future. I look forward to my gastrointestinal problems courtesy of the corrupt officials in the EU who are promoting monsanto's agenda in this very secretive "free trade" deal with the US

I dropped the gluten over a year ago , tested positive for gluten intolerance after a raft of gastro problems , issues cleared up in the space of weeks. I try to avoid non organic food as much as possible , sometimes I just can't afford it though. If I had a garden I'd be growing everything I could without the use of these poisons. It's the cumulative effect of these pesticides that is causing the health problems , imagine the amount accumulated in the body of a thirty year old then throw in the fact that some people are poor detoxers to begin with!!. People also need to be aware that when they buy fruit juice that the vitamin C is often derived from GM corn. Are anti-GM people aware that GM potaotoes are being grown in the open outside of the designated area of the Teagasc centre in Carlow?.
