Dublin Primary School brings their young pupils to night of gambling at the dogs.

The O‘Connel’s primary school Parents Association obviously believes that Gambling is a healthy pursuit for 8 to 10 year old schoolchildren. A night at the dogs was arranged by the OCS Parents association on last Thursday 3rd May. A mini-bus and apparently a Gardai community Van shuttled children for a night of gambling at Shelbourne Park to bet on about 12 races as no underage limit applies at Greyhound and Horse tracks in Ireland.
One child won 60-80 euro and the website for the school said the following regarding the event. The O Connell Primary School Dublin website‎ states-‘

The elections in both Greece and France last weekend have witnessed a resounding rejection of austerity. The imposition of Sanctions against Iran is War by other means. Majid Tamjidi writes on how the sanctions hit ordinary people and tghe nature of the Iranian Government. Full text at link

Over the last few years western governments have created an atmosphere of war against Iran and in the last few months severe sanctions have come into effect. In addition we face the threat of military attacks by Israel against Iran’s strategic centres, including nuclear facilities.

It is not difficult to rebuff western excuses for creating this atmosphere of war and sanctions. The west is Israel’s main ally in the region and that country is a nuclear power. The US and its allies have never questioned Pakistan’s nuclear weapons, nor have they threatened it militarily. The imperialist powers’ main interactions in the region are with Saudi Arabia, which must hold the gold medal (or at least silver) for human rights abuses. read full story / add a comment

An ethical approach to human rights, development and globalization to replace neo liberalism is seen as the way to address lack of open government, many human rights omissions leading to mass neglect and the suppression of 'bottom-up' development in New Zealand. The mass purging of 'tall poppies', the 'crushing and isolation' of those at the bottom of the social scale and terrible social outcomes for many children were seen as a consequence of the hegemonic ambitions of a bi-cultural bureaucratic elite wanting to ensure no bottom-up challenges to top-down control. read full story / add a comment

" God himself could not sink this ship!"

After the British Holocaust visited on Ireland in 1845 which cost the lives of millions( I use the word MILLIONS, carefully researched) of Irish lives, from 1848 to 1950 almost another six million people left Ireland. It has continued ever since, its called ethnic cleansing by some, forced emigration by others and "see another part of the world" by an Irish minister of the current fascist Government in Ireland. The result is that most of the real Irish are overseas and whats left on the small island today is a poor spiritless mostly imitation of anything Gaelic or free. read full story / add a comment

Bobby Sands Remembered in Nantes Brittany
international / environment / news report Tuesday May 08, 2012 14:34 by Michael Joyce   image 2 images
The 5th May on a street off the main thoroughfares a small group of people came to mark the anniversary of a protester and a protest that in 1981 held the world's attention. Bobby Sands died that day. This street 'Rue Bobby Sands' is named in his honour. As in Nantes, just like many other cities throughout the world, the hungerstrike has left its' mark on the human conscience.
The search for justice by hungerstrike is now being used by the people of Nantes to show their opposition to the airport development at Notre Dame de La Lande (NDDL), it is an attack on their human dignity. read full story / add a comment
