Below is a letter that I recently sent to about 120 newspapers. A small number have got back to me to say they are featurising the story. Others are publishing it as a letter. The Sunday Business Post got in contact to see if it was sent to anyone else (I haven't heard from them since I said it was; my personal thought it that if it's not their scoop, they're not interested). It has also been sent to Tesco (without a reply, yet!).

Feel free to copy/distribute/send to Tesco. read full story / add a comment

Since the international water conference in Dublin in 1992, the international community has continued to refuse (institutionally) to recognise the access to water as a human right, i.e. as a universal, impartible and untouchable right. A proposed resolution by Germany & Spain to include water as a universal right through the framework of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva
has been blocked by Canada & the USA. This might be because Canada has lots of H2O as the clean bit of the fluid is called by first worlders once they take out the oestrogen, cryptosporidium, residual heavy metals & artificial colourings. Third worlders have many words for water & don't often worry about the oestrogen, cryptosporidium & heavy metals due to the cholera thing which can sometimes worries them more than the lack of artificial colourings in their water which often gives it a brownish or greyish tint......This is quite normal.......Honestly it is.

In the last twelve years Bundoran Town Council has allowed Planning Corruption erode the very HEART of Bundoran and now the greedy developers and certain Corrupt Councillors want to destroy our Foreshore not or enhancement but to built apartment blocks on the most beautiful coastline in Ireland. The Irish healthcare system is in crisis and everyday we hear new stories about people being denied treatment, waiting for days on trolleys and further cutbacks in essential services.
The health service is being driven into crisis by a Fianna Fail-PD-Green government whose aim is to outsource and privatise as much as possible. There are already American private health corporations, some of which are mired by healthcare fraud, involved in Harney's co-located private hospitals read full story / add a comment

We are calling on all folks who are opposed to the wars on Afghanistan and Iraq to make their opposition visible for an hour a week - solo or with friends.

To vigil is to stay awake. Our society slumbers as our warships, fighter aircraft, troops and bombers unleash death and destruction on the people of Iraq. The body bags of British, Australian and American troops come home without causing a ripple beyond the immediate families of the deceased.

The March/April issue of the magazine History Ireland contains a major article on Irish anarchists in the late nineteenth-century that should be of interest to today's anarchist activists.

The title is '"Practical anarchists, we": social revolutionaries in Dublin, 1885-7'

In Ireland and Britain in the 1880s, the Fenians occupied the demonic role of 'terrorists' in the recesses of the bourgeois mind, and less attention was paid to terrorists of the radical left. Historian Fintan Lane relates how anarchists, though scarcely noticed, were nevertheless active in Ireland and argued openly for social revolution, though not for 'individual terror'.

History Ireland is on sale in Eason's across the country. read full story / add a comment

A 68 year old pensioner from Cabra is been brought to court by Dublin City Council for putting rubbish into the back of a bin truck. DCC are seeking substantial legal costs off this pensioner if he loses his case. The local anti-bin tax campaign, comprising Cabra/Dunard/Navan Rd. and the Dublin anti-bin tax campaign are fully supporting this pensioner. We have organised a fundraising pub-quiz on the 11th April in Eamonn McGraths pub, Fassaugh Avenue, Cabra. Any support will be appreciated.
