More than 100 members and supporters of the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) took part in a vigil on the Ha'penny Bridge in central Dublin at 2pm today. Similar vigils were held in many other parts of the country, including Belfast, Derry, Scarrif, Mullingar and Sligo. More will be held over the weekend. read full story / add a comment

A letter of protest (see full text below) from the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) was brought this afternoon (3.30pm) to the Egyptian embassy in Dublin. A large peaceful picket simultaneously took place outside with people holding placards demanding an end to the siege of Gaza and chanting in protest at Egypt's recent efforts to frustrate international solidarity with the Palestinian people. read full story / add a comment

Dublin Bike Scheme is being further expanded which is indeed good news for Dublin’s marginalized cyclists. In their creative, nonviolent resistance against the Apartheid Wall, for the Xmas Day protest, Bil'in's villagers decided on gifting the Israeli Occupation Forces manning the checkpoint at that obscenity a box of luxury sweets, the intention was for five Santas positioned well back from the Wall - so as to allay any IOF fears that they may be rocks to slingshot them, however, before it could transpire, the well humoured protestors were malevolently doused in a blizzard of tear gas and this continued and continued. read full story / add a comment

On Monday evening 28th December, first anniversary of the ferocious Israeli assault on Gaza, approximately 80 people attended a candlelit vigil outside Belfast City Hall to draw attention to the continuing illegal Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip. On Sunday 27th December the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign erected a memorial tree in Limerick city centre to mark the first anniversary of Israel’s genocidal assault on Gaza last winter, The names of the 1415 people who were killed during the 22 day assault were printed on colour-coded cards for the public to attach to the tree - blue for men, pink for women and white cards for the over 300 children killed. A detailed list of the names, addresses, gender, ages, and occupation of those murdered was displayed on large laminated sheets for the public to study and see for themselves the fact that the overwhelming majority of the victims were innocent civilians.

A vigil was held on Patrick's Bridge in Cork city this afternoon to mark the beginning of the Gaza massacre last year. More than 1,400 people - including over 300 children - were killed by Israeli forces during the onslaught.

Sunday December 27th marks the anniversary of the attack on Gaza by Israel, which left over 1,400 people dead, and over 5,000 injured in 22 days.

At 11 35 am, the time of the first attack, a group of humanitarians on the “Viva Palestina Convoy” will embark on an International Hunger Strike in the main square in Aqaba, Jordan. read full story / add a comment
