On Saturday 9th April, we'll be travelling to Ballina, Co. Mayo, to raise awareness about our Charles River (and Ovagen) campaign.

Support is urgently needed to help this campaign continue, so we are hoping this trip will aid us in gaining new members among the local community there. An information table will be set up in the town, and we will spread out leafleting in different areas as well.

Canada's pride lies in the maple leaf, but its shame lies in the annual slaughter of hundreds of thousand baby harp seals. Canada’s baby seal hunt has started and this year it seems to be more vicious and cruel than ever before—the hunters have gone desperate. Every year, baby seals, some just weeks or a couple of months old, have their delicate heads violently smashed in with a club or a sharp pole only to have their fur skinned from their bodies, often whilst fully conscious. This year, yet again, tens of thousands of baby seals will die—but you can stop it. read full story / add a comment

Ward Union Hound Carrier blocks road
dublin / animal rights / press release Monday March 07, 2011 21:18 by Bernie Wright   image 1 image
On February 1st 2011 in Dail Eireann, whilst speaking to John Gormley , the Meath TD Shane Mc Entee said ‘The Deputy did not get to ban the Ward Union after all his talk.’ And ‘Its members are still hunting’.

As Shane Mc Entee is confirming that the Ward Union Staghunt are now breaking the law, should he not, as an elected representative in Dail Eireann condemn the blatant disregard of Irish Legislation by the Ward Union.

As part of a group who monitor the Ward Union we can confirm that they continue to hunt twice weekly as they have in the past and as they intended to do by issuing a meet card at the start of this season. When legislation means nothing to officially elected TDs why should they be allowed to represent the people in Dail Eireann.

Word is out right now that Fine Gael—should they get into government—are going to reverse the hard fought ban on the Ward Union carted stag hunt. Should the party get their wicked way and repeal this only piece of legislation, it will set our movement in Ireland back and will cast a dark day for all campaigning to bring about an end to cruelty to animals. read full story / add a comment
