British Monarch Not Welcome Here - Protest

category dublin | anti-capitalism | press release author Sunday May 15, 2011 13:48author by Republican Network for Unity - Republican Network For Unity Report this post to the editors

As the impending visit of the British Monarch looms ever near, preparations by the State have long been under way to suppress resistance in any way, shape or form.
phpzxegr4pm_1.jpg

Many homes have become targets for the State police who have began a series of raids and arrests across Dublin City and further afield. We have witnessed the outrageous decision by Dublin City Council (DCC) to silence the voice of the people by imposing draconian measures to outlaw free speech. Many posters against the Imperialist visit across Dublin are soon to be banned and have already been, ripped down in an act of desperation by those who wish to sabotage and hamper any form of opposition to this unwanted visit. The Ireland as we know it today bears a striking resemblance to a totalitarian police state that is rotten to the core.

Thousands of families are soon to be subjected to what can only be described as a ‘lock-down’ and imprisoned within the confines of a discriminative cordon. This ring of steel has been designed to keep the working class communities segregated from the proceedings of the capitalist class whose hierarchy knows no bounds.

The ruthlessness of the State will be plain for all to see as communities across Dublin feel the brunt of fierce oppression by those in power who maintain their gag on the voice of the people.

The State, through its puppet broadcasting system, RTE, has invariably been polluting the airwaves with pro-British propaganda in an attempt to create a false sense of consciousness among the populace. It continues to manipulate the masses by fabricating false idols and intruding into the eye of the beholder, bogus interpretations of a country that has ‘moved on.’ But the State continues to contradict itself with the ever presence of British occupation visible in the six counties and the scores of neglected working class communities in an Ireland that has far from, moved on!

Over 10,000 gardaí and soldiers will be deployed onto the streets of Dublin to counteract against any resistance proposed by the Irish people. People in their homes are being victimised and interrogated by the Special Branch while sporadic searches of the public continue to prevail. Surface to Air Missiles have also been deployed at Baldonnel Airport. The estimated cost for the security of this visit is in the region of 30 million Euros although the full cost would be much higher and will never be made known to the public.

This visit is also a travesty of justice for the families and victims of the Dublin and Monaghan bombings who will be marking the anniversary of their loved ones deaths on the same day the State facilitates a Royal visit. To date, no one person has ever being convicted for this crime even though evidence points to collusion between loyalist death squads and the British Government. Those responsible for this terrible atrocity need to be brought to justice immediately and held accountable for their crimes.

The Republican Network for Unity will be protesting against this unjustifiable visit on the 17th of May and we encourage all republicans to gather at Connolly Train Station at 12pm where we will then march to the Garden of Remembrance.

Statement Ends.

The following words were extracted from the item above published by the Republican network for unit.

"This visit is also a travesty of justice for the families and victims of the Dublin and Monaghan bombings who will be marking the anniversary of their loved ones deaths on the same day the State facilitates a Royal visit. To date, no one person has ever being convicted for this crime even though evidence points to collusion between loyalist death squads and the British Government. Before we ask people to take responsibility for their actions. we must be all willing and able to take responsibility for our own actions. When will republicans acknowledge the crimes that were committed in their name over the years, tresponsibility for the innocents that were killed in La Mon, Omagh, Enniskillen and many other places.

Pretty sure Al that there has been an apology on behalf of the Provisional IRA, actually there has been two such apologies-one where they apologised for civialian and non-combatant deaths and then one for all, civilian and combatant deaths they caused. There were several apologies for various acts released before this; Bernard Teggert, that little girl hit by a stray bullet etc. Yes these and the first blanket apology came far too late for their victims. The latter apology I feel actually went beyond what was needed, and I consider myself a voice of reason. Most of the Provisional movement gave up arms and pursued peaceful means. Most of the career soldiers of Her Royal Highn...sorry, Her Majesty went from Belfast, to the Falklands, to Sierra Leone, Africa etc. Even after the Provo's late apologies, posh school boys and naive working class young men and women continued their fine career serving Queen and country, namely in 'training' in the North of Ireland, in 'deployment' to Iraq and Afghanistan, where they 'liberated' those oppressed people. When said heroes withdraw from Afghanistan, and go to fight for the freedom of Libya, a country they so relished the thought of being free that they sent over arms and munitions to Gaddafi himself, will they issue an apology for the 1,000,000+ dead? Has the Queen so repented of the despicable carpet bombing of Iraq by fine fellowes in the RAF, the shooting of civilians by the Queen's Highlander's, and the torture of Arabs by the Royal Goons, that she issued a press release, or a New Year's Apology?
Pertual War for Perpetual Wealth isn't it.
Must check my BAe shares now, maybe Lizzie wants a few more.
Ask yourself Al, whose apology means more?

I have never once heard an apology from the Terrorists, always "we regret, and anyways really what does an apology do. There is a lot of talk about the British Armed forces being brought to justice for their crimes, when will the terrorists be ready to stand trial for the crimes that they committed on their own people, there are many of them who never were brought to justice.

Tripping out the hackneyed old Imperialistic claims is, at this stage boring and inane, the terrorists in the North were building their own little empire and their own people suffered.

A terrorist apology means nothing as "they have not gone away", and most of them, from their leaders down will not admit their own complicity in the crimes committed. When they have the courage to admit their full involvement and are brought to justice (a justice they never gave the civilians they murdered and executed) then maybe their regrets may be taken as an apology.

As for Libya and the NATO Operations which were requested by the Arab Union and requested by the Lybians, I suppose I can understand the feigned concern for the Gadaffi Regime considering his highly active and supportive arms trade for republican terrorists.

It can help the victims, their families and go some way towards making amends.

"Tripping out the hackneyed old Imperialistic claims is, at this stage boring and inane, the terrorists in the North were building their own little empire and their own people suffered."

Tripping out the hackneyed old terrorist claims is, at this stage boring and hypocritical. Why don't you put as much effort into championing the cause of the islanders of Diego Garcia, who suffered immensely at the jackboot of British/Yankee imperialism? Or every country that the crown forces plundered over the years.

"As for Libya and the NATO Operations which were requested by the Arab Union and requested by the Lybians."

What about them? The people of Tibet, Burma, Sudan have been calling for help recently, it wasn't forthcoming from your heroes?

"A terrorist apology means nothing as "they have not gone away", and most of them, from their leaders down will not admit their own complicity in the crimes committed."

Are these the crimes committed against indigenous peoples around the world at the hands of successive Royal Navies and Marines? Are you referring to Tony Blair, that defence minister who hob nobs it to arms fayres with big shots from arms companies? Who!?

Once again you are avoiding the responsibility of the terrorists who killed thousands of (to use one of your words). "idiginous" irish people and trying to divert attention on to others, I have stated that there were many sides involved in what happened in Northern Ireland (and have freely stated it), and once again a poster questions in essence my loyalty to this country ( reference to my heroes, although I made NO reference to heroes).

What use are apologies to families? when it is Justice they need, always we hear calls of bring the British to justice, from the republican side but nevr any talk of them standing up and taking their justice.

Come on Declan admit they were wrong.

Who's Declan? If you're going to paraphrase me or quote me at least get my name right, and spell 'indigenous' properly. I sense some anger on your keyboard there.

Probably because if those Provo members whose blood you bay for were to stand up in court the whole dirtyness of the Troubles would be exposed; the secret agents, the double agents etc. Do you think the British government would let it be known that they let bombs go off to protect informants? That they sacrificed some soldiers in Ballygawley? That they probably planted some false flag operations?

I've never had a problem admitting Republicans carried out truly despicable, and worse still, sectarian acts. (There wouldn't have been any sectarianism if the British establishemt didn't sow dissent among the United Irishmen-divide and conquer). But come back to me when they starve a couple of million peasants into submission, or carpet bomb an entire city.

Al, you keep going on and on saying things like "everyone is always saying the queen/uk gov/loyalists should apologise but is there no apology from the republicans."

You never actually say that you also think the queen/uk gov/loyalists should ALSO apologise. very clever rhetorically speaking.

So...once and for all, Do YOU also think apologies are due from queen/uk gov/loyalists AS WELL AS from republicans??

Answer the question if you are asking it of others or please shut up ok?

author by Al Slaterpublication date Fri May 20, 2011 09:31author address author phone Report this post to the editors

Yes I believe that there should be apologies all round.

Now do you believe that the Republican Terrorists should apologise and not just express regret.

You should also remember that the Queen is a constituitional Monarch and can only speak as her Government allows.

So again what do you feel about republican terrorists and their apology to the Irish people.

..you apologising for all that whataboutry diversion from the central issue of the appropriateness of 30bn spent on the rich mamma's spin round the ECB/IMF wreckage, orchestrated by the City Of London and her buddies in the bondholder circles?

Lead on Al. Then maybe you can tell us whether the armed rebellion against gadaffi is led by Terrorists, terrorists, or freedom fighters.

Then you might give us a breakdown on Her madjesty's govt's history of terror instigation from Loyalist death squad mobilisation back through boer war gulags, Indian and Keynian and Cypriot etc etc terror as SOP, Standard Operating Procedure.

your equating of republican with terror echoes hasbara policy of gettin your revenge in first. Sling the mud, as someone said, and sit back and listen to the denials.

Or dont you do Economic Terrorists?

I answered your question, you have as I expected you would failed to answer mine, by the normal diversionary approach of qouting a failed socialist mantra.

Do you believe that republican terrorists should apologise, its a simple yes or no, cut the hyperbole.

And as for Ghadaffi his relationship with Ireland is well known.

See above post for blanket Provisional IRA aplogy, also follow the BBC link. There's one out there from the INLA, not that they waged much of a campaign in between feuding.

I'd direct you to An Phoblacht but you wouldn't go there I'm sure, not while still mourning brave Al from Leicestershire. I see from his Wikipedia page that he had a stint with the Paras? Brave lot the lads from the Paratroop Regiment, when not beating up housewives, ransacking pubs and shooting children dead in the street.
And you know what Al? You've made my day, I wasn't aware there were four SAS terrorisers executed in the North, I am now. That's good ammo for me bantering with my English pals, if you'll excuse the pun.

Al

Your line reminds me of a victim who scratches her rapist while being raped being asked to apologise for fighting back before the rapist is willing to apologise for the rape itself.

No republican who engaged in such activities did so lightly and all bore a terrible personal burden for acts committed in the line of duty. Of course republicans are sorry for hurting innocents in the line of duty, and republicans have expressed this fact more than once publicly.

But there is an order that such apologies should happen officially.

UK should apologise then get out completely. Then republicans, the victims of the UK colonialism, should apologise. Then we should grow a backbone and some self respect and start acting like a true republic and stop fawning like idiots over visits by our long time imperialist oppressors, or corrupt european financial terrorists.

Here's to that new Ireland, an Ireland we can again be proud of, after lots of apologies from everyone in the correct order!

yours is the hasbara technique.

'Do you believe Republican Terrorists...?',immediately plants the presumptive equation of republican and terrorist, classic propaganda ploy out of the same royal stable of 'have you given up beating your wife?'

I dont respond to bullshit normally, but as the marxist groucho put it, 'I never forget a face, but in your case I'm prepared to make an exception'.

If you're not a royalist(but tolerant of its pyramidic and parasitic predations), despise republicanism, take pleasure in baiting political opponents, you're leaning towards fascism already.
The Greeks used the word 'idiot' to denote anyone who was so caught up in their private welfare they couldn't see the public sphere.

Thats all res publica means. The public realm. ultimately the same root as 'common weal', commonwealth(though originally its connotation was 'welfare' rather than riches). That Nationalism poisoned republicanism dont mean you throw the baby out and hang on to the bathwater, which is what the current national pridefest and sycophantic self-preening by our media liggers adds up to. As they slash our collective prosperity to maintain and increase already obscene private monetary plutocracies. Some must expand and extend their 'more equal' status situation endlessly.
By blanketing all who respect the concept, you fall into the same class as people who referred not so long ago to 'Irish terrorism', and who closed their eyes and ears to state terror, usually, though not always the ultimate source of reactionary counter-terror.
As Hume said, its the mindsets need decommissioning. Mind you dont trip over your delight.

And noticed that MI 5/6 and a collection of her midgetsty's undercover agencies created the terrorist element in the war.

Just as surely as UNcle Sam created al qaeda, and is collaborating with them where it suits the agenda. Or using them as excuse for such lying invasions as iraq, Afghanistan, pakistan, Libya and wherever is next.

And its FROM the air Britannia is dropping its terror bombs.
