The Mail submitted Freedom of Information requests to Britain's police forces asking how many arrests they had made for 'offensive' social media posts. The numbers are alarmingly high -- over 30 a day in 2023 and only slightly less in 2024.

Morales Proud of links with Iran

category international | anti-capitalism | news report author Thursday November 26, 2009 02:38author by Bazooka Joe Report this post to the editors

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived in Venezuela on Wednesday to meet with President Hugo Chavez. President Ahmadinejad is completing the third part of a successful South American tour where he also had meetings with President Evo Morales of Bolivia and President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva of Brazil.

President Ahmadinejad is in Venezuela to sign 270 agreements on cooperation in agriculture, industry, technology, energy and a number of other areas with President Hugo Chavez as cooperation between the two countries has grown in recent years. Iran has established strong ties with countries in South America which for decades the United States regarded as their back-yard.

BBC quoted Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro as saying, "We have a solid foundation, a solid base that we have created over this decade in our relationship, and it shows how false are the attacks of the world empire.”

In Brazil, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva criticized attempts to isolate Iran over its nuclear program.

In Bolivia on Tuesday, President Ahmadinejad and Bolivian President Evo Morales called for the expansion of ties between the two countries.

“Free nations and governments should stand together to foil the plots hatched by imperialists,” Ahmadinejad said after holding talks with Morales in the Bolivian capital - Press TV.

Evo Morales said that Iran is a great and developed country and called for the expansion of relations between the two countries. Both presidents signed agreements to extend co-operation between their countries in the future. The two countries also signed memoranda of understanding which will see Iran building a dialysis center in Bolivia and assisting Bolivia in mining research.

President Morales said, “Bolivia is proud of its ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran in various spheres.”
