category dublin | arts and media | news report author Friday November 20, 2009 15:24author by FCTV Report this post to the editors

FCTV is a new station for the Fingal area that is currently airing on the web at www.fctv.ie until such time as their broadcast licence is obtained. The aim of FCTV is to provide high quality community based programming of which is of interest to the people of Fingal. FCTV will look to showcase Fingal talent, events, businesses and anything that is of interest to the people it serves.

The team behind new online channel FCTV (Fingal Community Television Limited) is currently in production with its new weekly show ‘The Q’ the first show of which will debut on Friday, December 18th.

FCTV is currently in production with a new show, ‘The Q’. The 30 minute programme will broadcast weekly and will explore Fingal happenings under the titles of Entertainment, Lifestyle, Multi-Cultural and News. A workshop will be held this weekend from which the show’s two anchors will be chosen. The series will be directed by FCTV’s Director of Programming, Dave Byrne and the series producer is FCTV’s Head of Productions, Liz Kenny.
Since the Motion was passed by the Fingal County Council to support the establishment of FCTV by whatever means practicable, the team behind FCTV have been working hard to raise the awareness of the channel. To date many local businesses have given support by offering their services free to FCTV and the team are actively seeking financial support from local businesses to enable the channel to make more programming by way of sponsorship.
Since the launch of FCTV over 10,000 viewers have tuned in. Station Manager Tony O’Reilly is extremely optimistic, describing the audience figures as “unprecedented” and Liz Kenny re-iterates, “We never imagined that we would receive such level of interest.” she says “Since we put a call out for volunteers, we have been non-stop interviewing and screen testing. The demand for this service is fantastic.”
To date FCTV has received no financial support. The equipment and facilities to operate this channel have come from Lispopple Studios, who fully support the establishment of FCTV. Dave Byrne, has stated that the team hopes to continue an application process with the B.A.I once it is fully operational.
FCTV encourage anyone who wants to be involved, to make contact with Tony O’Reilly on 01 4433385 or at tony@fctv.ie. FCTV is available on www.fctv.ie
