Rock Against Lisbon Gig

category national | eu | event notice author Friday September 18, 2009 20:20author by ROCK AGAINST LISBON Report this post to the editors

A night of different musical styles to Rock the treaty

ROCK AGAINST LISBON
The Cobblestone, Smithfield, Baile Átha Cliath
26th September, 8 p.m
Táile €3
Yukina, The Group, Barra and the lads, DJ Shifty and our special guest Ciaran Murphy
This is a non party political event

No lectures, No big speeches, a night for the music to do the talking. We would only be preaching to the converted anyway. This will be a good night for activists to have a break from their campaigning and also give them a boost for the final week before voting day, and of course keeping the tradition of progressive young people of the past who organised Rock Against Racism etc

Well Ciaran Murphy for anyone who doesnt know him is 'the best kept secret since Fatima' . Get his new album 'Once upon a time in Ireland', I order you. His last one 'Verbal Hand Grenade' also awesome and all his stuff a must have for anyone into songs with a meaning.

Yukina have great energy and someone to look out for for the future. Their new single Stuck will be out next month.
They are said to resemble Tom Waits and Mark Lanegan with Lemmy and the Band Of Gypsies backed by Blondie

'The Groups' new single Strong Little Twitch is out now in Tower records and available on downloadmusic.ie.

Barra and the lads are a group of talented traditional musicians well known round the pubs and clubs of Dublin, they are the cream of the crop

DJ Shifty is a shifty little character

We welcome anyone at the end of the evening to give us a song or a tune and we are expecting a few surprise guests.
Poster and more info on the way. SPREAD THE WORD. Bí ann.
