Applications for asylum were up 14% on the previous 12 months after a surge in migrants reaching Britain in small boats, according to official figures. So much for Labour's promise to "smash the gangs".

Just 58.3% of all pupils across the UK passed their maths GCSE this year, down from 59.5% last year and the lowest since 2013. But the percentage of students getting the highest grades was higher in free schools than other schools.

It is simplistic to blame the recent spike in wildfires on climate change, writes Paul Homewood. A more likely cause is the rewilding of uplands, supposedly to cut carbon emissions, and poor management of forested land.

I have a feeling that many of us on the anti-abortion side would support most, if not all, of the demands you have in CAPS above.

Let's see:

PROPER SEX EDUCATION - check
FREE CONTRACEPTION - check
FREE QUALITY CHILDCARE - check
IMPROVEMENT IN MATERNITY SERVICES - check
BETTER SUPPORT FOR SINGLE MOTHERS - check
SUPPORT FOR LOW-INCOME PARENTS (RE-INTRODUCTION OF EARLY CHILDCARE ALLOWANCE ETC) - check
NO TAX ON CHILD BENEFIT - check
FREE IMPARTIAL CRISIS-PREGNANCY COUNSELLING - check
PROPER REGULATION OF CRISIS PREGNANCY AGENCIES - check
CLOSE THE WRC - check
FEMINISM (FEM SYMBOLS) - check
REAL LIFE - check
SUPPORT THE LIVING - check

Yep, time to look for common areas of support more than areas of disagreement.

Mark.

yup - "pro-life" rally at garden of remembrance is pretty openly youth defence +others. they have mass at 1pm and then rally at 2. ahem.

feminist gpo demo is very separate to YD one.. in case that isn't clear!

support for single parents is more politically correct than support for single mothers, yes. support for single mothers is possibly more relevant in "abortion" debate (ie women make decisions about their pregnant bodies based on the expected outcomes/ how much support they expect to have afterwards).

officially, nearly 90% of single parents are single mothers, however true that is in reality. single fathers should also be supported of course: the list of themes/ possible placards should not be considered exclusive.

They are right wing dinosaurs who make people go through misery by forcing vulnerable women on to planes to get abortions.

By turning womens bodies into a debating point they seek to distract from their friends the rapists in the clergy who blighted lives in Ireland for decades.

BUT they will be important in defeating Lisbon during the referendum rerun, so I wish them the best of luck with their pointless and idiotic "Rally for Life"

why on earth I should be FORCED via taxes to support other people's decisions to worsen the current overpopulation problem...? When I have made a conscious decision to avoid conrtibuting to it by not breeding myself????

thanks so much for holding a 'Real Life' Rally, it really helped Youth Defence to get lots of new people on board to help out, the Pro-Life movement has been enthused and motivated to work even harder all thanks to you!!!

you're grateful for a bit of publicity....Youth Defence obviously need more young people to get involved since the only young people on the march seemed to be those there with their parents. Apart from those, most of the people on the march were the other side of 50! Not very youthful Youth Defence!!!
