Members of Save Our Lady's Hospital Campaign took their protest straight to the HSE HQ at Steeven's Hospital

Brid Smith and Cllr. Joan Collins of People Before Profit alongside Teresa Shallow and Mary Byrne take on the Communications Officer of the HSE

As the media is focussed on elections and Fianna Fail is going down the tubes the Department of Health through the HSE is shutting down hospital wards, closing theatres and sacking cleaning staff. One ward was closed yersterday, seven cleaners losing their jobs while two more wards a re earmarked for closure during the summer. These events have angered Teresa Shallow of the Save Our Lady's Hospital Campaign who was fielding a relentless stream of calls from all Dublin radio stations yesterday during the hour long occupation of the HSE foyer at Steeven's Hospital. 'We are paying for the bailout of the Banks with our children's and grandchildren's lives' said Bríd Smith, a People Before Profit candidate for the Ballyfrmot Crumlin area. Councillor Joan Collins of PBP for the Crumlin/Kimmage area has been a stalwart support of the campaign was disgusted at the cutbacks and was adamant that the campaign would continue on. Teresa Shallow announced another protest at Crumlin hospital on Saturday week the 23rd May at midday. This is continuing the long campaign to defend services for children.

A petition to stop any cutbacks was accepted by the Head of Communications at the HSE. Craig a fifteen year old schoolboy who has been a patient at Our Lady's hospital since the age of two took on the HSE representative commending staff at the hospital and reporting the long delays for treatment which he had suffered. He passed on a message from his classmates that they couldn't understand why services were being reduced.

Professor Drumm was unavailable to speak to the Save Our Lady's Children's Hospital Campaign. Protestors asked the HSE Officer to text them when he was back in the building.

apart from the petitions, I think everyone who is against the HSE cutbacks for crumlin hospital should march on leinster during a dail day (thats if we can find out when they are as they seem to be never there) and also brian cowens office and form a protest. The HSE is a complete and utter joke and so are the politicians in office. They have not got a clue what they are doing. they are happy to spend millions on art for hospitals and for there own offices but not willing to invest in health care. The health minister herself is a complete joke and she has no clue. You are dealing with people lives remember that. I say call a general election and kick these clowns out of office.

I would love to meet them and tell them a few home truths as they have no idea what they are doing, they are all only interested in how much they can get and how much dodgy expenses they can claim for. Come on , expenses without recepits, this place is a joke and the world is laughing at ireland and the clowns who run it.

Can i ask you , parent who headed there comment stunt.
Have you joined us in our protests ? have you helped to Hand over thousands of flyers
to let people know about our campaign ? Did you stand with us at the HSE head quarters
and demand a full health service for our children. I bet the answers to them questions are NO.
As if you did you would know that Brid Smith and Cllr. Joan Collins of People Before Profit have supported our campaign ever step of the way.
These two women have fought alog side us for the last two years in our campaign to save our lady's childen's hospital.
Again it is people like yourself that will sit at your kitchen table and give out about them that are trying to do good and you have the cheek to call it a stunt.
These kind of remarks are what anger me, Joan and brid have helped us in so many ways that you can not even begin to imagine.
If it was not for there help we woud struggle in our campaign. So Joan collins And brid smith i am sure that i speak on behalf of all in our campaign in saying a big thank you for all your support unlike most of the other candidates that are runnning for election this june these two women are the only two to come out and support us and for that they get my vote.
This s our children we are talking about not public gain as you clearly stated PARENT.
So shame on you for putting down the efforts of two very caring women who march along side us trough out our campaign not only at times of elections.

Hi,

This is part of a long ongoing campaign and the previous poster can come along next saturday and join in with us.
Patricia mckenna was there last tuesday and the two women joan and brid who have been fantastic supporters of our campaign and solidly there with us. Fianna Fail, Fianna Gael and Labour aren't doing the great things those women are doing with us but we want them all to. So, stop whinging about people who do something and supporting us because you and your kind are of no use to us trying to change things on the ground.

So please a call to everybody out there come to Crumlin hospital Saturday week at 12 midday and lt's turn these cuts around to save our children's future. It's too important not to take action.

Thank you to everyone who has taken part and given their support.

You are not going to force the HSE to reverse its decision by organising what was obviously a photo opportunity for two election candidates. Why didn't you organise a real demonstration of parents against these cutbacks?
This stunt was like something Labour or Fine Gael would do, print a few tee shirts and make sure there is a camera along. This won't get our children's services restored.
