Biden's team was still obliviously tweeting his resolve to fight on hours after he had decided to step down. So was the matter taken out of his hands? It has all the signs of an opportunistic palace coup, says Eugyppius.

The Guardian has published a 'fact check' of Donald Trump's claims about inflation and immigration. Just one problem, says David Craig: the 'fact check' gets its facts wrong. Who will guard us against the Guardian?

Headquarters and the Main Man

Cooley Environmental and Health Group has for the last half dozen years or so adopted The Strand Hotel, Omeath, Co Louth, as a center for its varied program of activities. Archbishop Michael Desmond Hynes OMD PhD has been secretary of the group over all that period. He now is also acting as PRO for the group.

Activities in The Strand include a dance/social on Saturday nights featuring singer Nuala and Mickey McArdle on lead guitar. The hotel provides accommodation at the weekends for a number of guests - mostly from Belfast. IMPERO holds its general meetings in The Strand. It is also the venue for the annual winter workshop organised by Cooley Environmental and Health Group. The next workshop - the ninth in an annual series - takes place on 24 January 2009 starting at 2.00 p.m. The theme of this workshop is "Bullying." The workshop will feature around a dozen contributors/speakers and will be facilitated by Archbishop Hynes assisted by Sean Crudden. One of the pictures included with this article shows the Archbishop on Sunday morning in The Strand having completed the business of the 10.00 a.m. meeting of Cooley Environmental and Health Group and having eaten a fine hot breakfast.

I find the presentation at breakfast absolutely fantastic. John McQuaid (RIP) would be proud of this also. Who is coming for breakfast? Is it the homeless or the elite (FAS and the bankers and the pot belly TD's - maybe Jackie Healy Rae would give a speech on ethics and bog holes.

Let us get serious here. You are right breakfast is the most important meal in the day but I thought this was about bullying. Is Bishop Magee coming from Cloynes for breakfast along with Mugabe and Bush and let us throw in Podge and Rodge. I just can't get my head around this - breakfast table.

Bullying happens in every walk of life from the creche to the school yard to the workplace - there is even bullying big time within the Catholic Church itself. Personally, I think the idea is very good but I don't think advertising a hotel and the eloquence of the breakfast has anything, in any way, normal or abstract to the word bullying. Maybe if you all met in a hayshed with a flask of hot soup and a sliced Brennans pan and from hand to mouth - you might sort out bullying better.

This country Thank God now is not full of the fat cats on research groups from bullying research to cuckoo research but there is one thing common to them all - they don't forget to claim their expenses. Let us not forget Mr. Molloy ex FAS Commander-in-Chief was on a couple of State Boards, one which included Ethics and Transparency.

Anyway it is Christmas Revd. Michael. Enjoy the boiled egg and get cracking on bullying.....God Help us all.

Perhaps breakfast is the most important meal of the day from the point of view of health and a full Irish breakfast certainly is nourishing and sustaining. The meeting of Cooley Environmental and Health Group on Sunday 21 December 2008 began with breakfast at 11.00 a.m. Breakfast is a feature of every monthly meeting of the group. Sunday's breakfast was even sweeter than usual for the secretary and acting chairperson. It was provided for them "on the house" i.e. it was complimentary. The picture with this comment shows the breakfast table at the right corner of the front window of The Strand looking out on a misty Carlingford Lough.

Report on Cooley Environmental and Health meeting held Sunday, 21 December 2008 @ 11 am in The Strand Hotel Omeath Co Louth
The meeting was well attended and full of flair as the final speakers are being confirmed for the workshop on “bullying “ to be presented in The Strand Hotel Omeath Co Louth on Saturday the 24th January 2009 from 2 pm until 5.30 pm. Thirteen speakers have already said they are taking part in this very topical workshop. We are currently in negotiation with three more who will add further flair for the event which is currently raising great interest in many walks of life especially as we face the downturn in our global and national economies which will have many impacts that may or may not relate to bullying.
Next meeting of CEHG is scheduled for the 18th January 2009 @ 11 am in the Strand Hotel Omeath.
