Shannon and the McCain Campaign?

category limerick | anti-war / imperialism | other press author Thursday August 07, 2008 11:27author by redjade Report this post to the editors

'huge contract to deliver fuel to the U.S. military'???

This is not an accusation - but it is a question, and some Irish reporter should look into this....

Quote: ''Today's Washington Post has a much-discussed piece about a top McCain fundraiser named Harry Sargeant, who has "bundled" a huge amount of campaign contributions for McCain from a host of unlikely donors.

[....]

What this means for McCain isn't really clear. But the upshot is that one of the more prolific bundlers for McCain appears to have bagged a huge contract to deliver fuel to the U.S. military in Iraq, even though he wasn't the lowest bidder for that contract, allegedly by relying partly on a connection in Jordan to deliver it.....''

My question is:
Since it is clear that the US Military-Industrial Complex is dumping money into the McCain Campaign anyway it can to continue the Iraq War - Is Irish/Shannon related money also part of this effort and is it legal in the USA or in Ireland to do so?

When I read the phrase: 'huge contract to deliver fuel to the U.S. military'

the first thing that comes to my mind is TopOil and ther other refuelers at Shannon http://www.top.ie
but, again, I have no evidence to accuse them with.

But if I was a reporter from some 'Legit' media in Ireland - I'd be looking at this very closely.

''Harry Sargeant III, a former naval officer and the owner of an oil-trading company that recently inked defense contracts potentially worth more than $1 billion, is the archetype of a modern presidential money man. The law forbids high-level supporters from writing huge checks, but with help from friends in the Middle East and the former chief of the CIA's bin Laden unit -- who now serves as a consultant to his company -- Sargeant has raised more than $100,000 for three presidential candidates from a collection of ordinary people, several of whom professed little interest in the outcome of the election....''

exCIA war profiteers with middle east big contracts organizing money laundering for McCain - where is that money coming from?

replace the phrase 'middle east' and insert 'ireland' and its new military industrial complex servicing the US invasions of the middle east.

someone in the Irish 'legit' media needs to investigatre this possibility.

redjade note:
btw, how does a guy who couldnt find bin Laden get rewarded with a billion dollar contract from the pentagon??!!

What about Omega Air and the McEvaddy Brothers? I would bet that company would be more of a candidate for donations to the republican cause than Ted Castle of the Top Oil operation at Shannon Airport.

This article is talking about small donations, mostly.

100s of billions of US Dollars have been dumped into funding wars abroad - there's a whole new infrastructure of a new Military-Industrial-Complex that relies on this cash - and an Obama could threaten it.

What reporter in Ireland is digging into this possible story of how Iraq War Big Money companies in Ireland are possibly channelling its cash into McCain's campaign?

again, I have no evidence of this - just taking an educated easy to make guess.

Some reporter in Ireland needs to follow the money!

During interviews with 123 donors in 11 countries, The Associated Press found contributions Obama accepted from at least three foreigners. Just five of the donors checked, three for Obama and two for McCain, said the campaigns asked to see copies of their current U.S. passports — as instructed by the Federal Election Commission to avoid legal problems.

Obama's campaign said it would refund the money to the foreign donors the AP identified.
