Justin Trudeau wants to prorogue Parliament to buy time before the election. Voters will punish him for it, says Prof James Allan, but it's a mistake he must be allowed to make without activist judges getting in the way.

Jordan Peterson should make his mind up about Christianity, critics say. Prof James Alexander disagrees: he's a profound Jungian explorer who wants to help a secularised world see why Christianity still matters.

A Photographers Account of a Suicide Bombing

More Realities of War

Below is the first paragraph of the graphic account -in text and images- of the aftermaths of a suicide bombing in Iraq.

The photographer, Zoriah, -who you may be familiar with through earlier posts- has since had his embed assignment cancelled by the Marine Corps for posting the blog on his site, which includes pictures of dead soldiers.

Anbar Province Suicide Bombing - Zoriah's Eyewitness Account - Iraq War Diary

My hands still shake and my heart pounds despite my fatigue. A combination of depression, fear, and adrenaline makes my thoughts race with the realization that a simple decision was the only thing that separated me from a body count that grows daily. I look at the images I took on the 26th of June, and realize they do nothing to capture the emotion of being an eyewitness to the aftermath of the Al-Qaeda suicide attack in Karmah/Garma... the smell... the sound of screams and crying........

Amy Goodman, presenter and founder of the globally syndicated award winning radio talk show 'Democracy Now', said that ....if the media took one day, only one day, and showed the real cost of war on their screens, the dead children, the agony, the sheer destruction of human life and the dead US soldiers that this war would end the day after... because Americans dont have the stomach for it........
...I say no one has who is in posession of a concience can stomach it.

Instead, well fed fat faced network 'anchors' (well named), sit and postulate on the finer attributes of the military. They oooze a misplaced, pseudo patriotic dedication to American Forigen policy and politicians. They are the first to attack any who dissagree, even those whos families have lost members in Bush's war of terror are humiliated by US network TV if they come out against it.
Bush himself chickened off to the Texas Air National Guard to avoid Viet-Nam, and then went awol from there.
He hasnt been to a grave yet. Rumsfeld, Cheney, Wolfowitz and pearle order millions of deaths and neither of them get a spot of blood on themselves.
They say they make 'Brave Decisions' .....but under neath it all they are cowards as are all political leaders who send others to do their diryty work...

Well done michael Gallagher, I'm looking foreward to the exhibition in Dublin I heard about, Is this the same person?? paul.

I wonder could this thread be sent to ex Taoiseach Aherne, new TaoiseachCowen, Harney , ODea and mabey the Bush supporting Green contingent . Even Mary Macaleese, who rattles on about human rights like she gives a shit about them, and stands idly by as our constitution goes down in flames along with he protections for human rights and our non involvement and non participation military conflict....at least without a UN resolution....
She actually supports this along with her husband in their complete silence, as does the church and Ratzinger who remained silent on the issue when visiting the epicentre of global terror recently, and our politicians-on both sides of the house now.

For what died the sons of Rosin??

Zoriah has had his "embed" status taken away from him and been flown back to America from Iraq for posting images of dead American soldiers (victims of a suicide attack in Fallajuah) on his blog.

He was interviewed on DemocracyNow.org yesterday about it.
