Good Friday Rossport Solidarity Walk 2008 A large number of people took a chance on yesterday's changeable weather to join the annual Good Friday Rossport Solidarity walk. The walk, now in it's fourth year, is along the original route planned by Shell for their production pipeline, which was supposed to carry raw gas at extremely high pressure to the refinery at Bellanaboy. Yesterday's walk was started by Sister Majella McCarron, veteran of campaigns against Shell in Africa. Nine walkers carried crosses bearing the names of Baribor Bera, Saturday Dobee, Nordu Eawo, Daniel Gbokoo, Barinem Kiobel, John Kpuinen, Paul Levura,Felix Nuate and Ken Saro Wiwa, who were hanged one by one at Port Harcourt Prison, Nigeria, in 1995 because of their opposition to Shell's activities in the Niger Delta. |

Shell compound at Rossport
gate still locked- blocking a public right of way
Good photos & report on state of play. SHell & their gombeens may be getting an inkling that we ain't giving up! Love & solidarity to yez all.
don't forget- Shell to Sea protest this Saturday in Dublin at the Shell station in Glasnevin, across the road from Glasnevin cemetery- 12 Noon (timed to allow folks to get into town for the start of the Health Rally.)
Shell is being aided and abetted in the rape of Erris, and it is being helped by “facilitators” many who are local "pillars" of society in Erris and north Mayo who are willing to sell out their community for the publicity and few crumbs from their masters shell's table. The old saying "money talks" has never been more true than in this case. In direct parallel our history shows that the landlordism and the English injustice in Ireand would never have succeeded were it not from the gombeen antics of their Irish agents who lived in the community and who did the dirty work for the landlords against their very own neighbours. There will always be the sort of people who would sell their own granny for 30 pieces of silver and Erris has more than its fair share of gombeen men
