Irish greyhound killers’ annual awards
Important demonstration
Killashee House Hotel, Naas, near Dublin
Easter Sunday, March 23rd, 5.30pm On Easter Sunday, March 23rd, the Irish Greyhound Board (IGB) will, once again, be holding their annual awards ceremony at the Killashee House Hotel in Naas, 24 miles from Dublin.
This is a yearly booze-up, dance and banquet, where the IGB hand out trophies to their various pals within the greyhound racing industry.
We’re not going to let them get away with their wining, dining and mutual back-slapping without vociferously bringing home to them exactly what we think about their disgusting so-called "sport" that makes them all a nice living from the ruthless persecution of innocent creatures.
Greyhound Action estimates that the Irish dog racing industry is responsible for the deaths of over 10,000 greyhounds every year. In addition, thousands of greyhounds, bred in Ireland for racing on British tracks, are put to death, often as young pups, after being considered not good enough to send to Britain (for more information, see www.greyhoundaction.org.uk/igreyhound.html)
If you possibly can, please try to attend this important demonstration, which will begin at 5.30pm outside the hotel’s main entrance. Anti greyhound racing banners and placards are more than welcome, as are whistles, airhorns, megaphones and anything else that makes a noise.
Directions to the hotel and a map can be found at www.killasheehouse.com/map.html
For those travelling from the UK, we would recommend the SailRail service - see www.sailrail.co.uk
A certain amount of free accomodation is available in the Dublin area for people needing to stay overnight. Please contact Bernie at berniew@esatclear.ie or on +353 872 651720 for more information.

See www.greyhoundaction.org.uk/eireDemo.htm for a report of the demonstration.
Please feel free to forward/crosspost/circulate this message.

What a load of bourgeois nonsense!
you should spend a day in a few kennels and just see how some of these dogs ARE treated,I can assure you that it would surprise you,I keep them and would like to bet they are looked after as good as any one in your orgaissation if not better. Not all of these dogs are put to sleep when their racing is over I am sure if you do your research you will see more and more are now being re-homed and do make great pets. What about the rabbits and hares that are killed by reckless driving of which I am sure that some of your orgaissation have done at some point!! So yes there are more important issues to be discussing.
If my father paid as much attention to me as he does to his greyhound I'm be the most well cared for daughter in the world.
I'm sorry part of me knows where your coming from, but this isn't a black and white issue. There are fund-raisers for retired greyhound and things are improving. My father cares for his dogs so much and the way your talking is as if you can tar them all with the same brush. It's just not true.
Is there an organisation for rescuing & re-homing greyhounds? They are gentle & make nice pets - no good as guard dogs! - I had one for nearly 10 year that had been previously neglected & he was clean & very respectful to my cats, & good with with the kids. Maybe not good with rabbits!

Still a long way to go but better to support this then to just be reactionary against it.
