Why are climate alarmists so impervious to facts, so averse to rational cost-benefit analysis? It has all the hallmarks of a religious cult, says James Allan. They can't let it go because it gives meaning to their lives.

Media Scrum Turns ARAN's Celebration Wild!

category national | animal rights | news report author Saturday December 15, 2007 11:45author by Stephan Wymore - Animal Rights Action Network (ARAN)author email arancampaigns at eircom dot netauthor address ARAN, Po Box 722, Kildare, Ireland Report this post to the editors

ARAN Celebrates Brown Thomas Fur Free Policy

Today a joint ‘Rabbit’ from the Animal Rights Action Network turned up outside of Brown Thomas’s flagship store on Grafton Street to celebrate the long awaited campaign victory of the up market department store going fur free from February 2008. Joined by other ARAN members the giant ‘rabbit’ uncorked a bottle of champagne to crowds of onlookers whilst cheering ‘Brown Thomas Now Fur Free’ another member also held a sign saying the same! Luckily the campaign event on Dublin’s busiest shopping street was being covered by Ireland’s top media outlets.

Also today, our campaign was highlighted during a discussion on Ireland’s national Newstalk radio who have being fantastic in covering animal stories over the last few years and on Dublin’s 98fm yesterday. Apart from the many articles popping up on the internet about this ‘victory’ was an article we were sent by another ARAN member which you can check out here.

Leaving on a wonderful note, we would like to thank everyone who played a part in getting Brown Thomas to go fur free. Thanks to other animal rights groups, activists and our members more importantly who play a vital role in all our campaigns work and who are there for Animal Rights Action Network when we need you most. Remember, your support is extremely valuable to our ongoing work to end cruelty to animals, although the road is long, every single day we win another battle against cruelty’s worst nightmare, silence!

All that's great ...
... it is surely better the pleasant view of some pretty bunny-girls rather than
the atrocious view of another dead animal !

Well done to all who worked on this. I know a lot of groups were involved and worked damn hard.

I for one am dissappointed by the absence of semi naked women, the presence of whom has become a traditional feature at this type of event. Giant rabbits are great and all, don't get me wrong, but...

For those who feel the same- here are some images form previous events and campaigns
