Labour plans to build 1.5 million new homes in five years. That's 821 per day, 34 per hour. No chance, says Sallust. And when this turns into another broken promise, it will all be someone else's fault, naturally.

Aer Lingus do not have National interest at heart

category national | consumer issues | press release author Thursday December 13, 2007 21:39author by Richard Walsh - Republican Sinn Féin Report this post to the editors

Aer Lingus have only self-interest at heart.

AER LINGUS DO NOT HAVE NATIONAL INTEREST AT HEART

The decision by Aer Lingus to remove Irish-language greetings from their flights in and out of Aldergrove is based upon the lie that there are two Irelands, a spokesman for Republican Sinn Féin has said:

“Aer Lingus sought to treat Aldergrove as a 'foreign base' when negotiating contracts for staff based there, despite the fact that it is situated on Irish soil. Once again they are shamefully treating County Antrim as a foreign place through their refusal to use the National language on flights in and out of the airport.

“We in Republican Sinn Féin do not accept the lie that there are two Irelands. Nor do we agree that workers in the 26-Counties should be entitled to higher pay than those in the Six Occupied Counties. Aer Lingus have long claimed to be the National carrier, but their actions in relation to their new Aldergrove hub shows that they have only self-interest rather than the National interest at heart.”

Quite frankly there is no reason for Gaelic announcements on flights from either country. There’s nobody alive today who can speak Gaelic that cannot also speak English fluently.but if the lack of flight announcements in your hobby language is the biggest problem in the world for you right now you seriously need to get a life.

Corporations ideally would like to simplify their market into one big homogenised pool of zombified atomised pliant programmable consuming units.

Any semblance of community or sense of identity causes resistance to the grey goo brand of shallow consumption culture they are touting.

It costs money to rectify this by means of expensive advertising, controlling the media and lobbying of government ministers. This reduces profits.

Corporations are the enemies of distinct cultural identity and all it entails and in the interests of increasing their profits, they will normally attempt to erase it at every turn.

“Corporations are the enemies of distinct cultural identity and all it entails and in the interests of increasing their profits, they will normally attempt to erase it at every turn.”

A rather sweeping comment about corporations and it is simplistic to say that profit maximization is the objective of all corporations. The full variety of goods and services are delivered by a large variety of business entities – some large and global and others small and indigenous and many somewhere in between. As to homogeneity it depends on the market. There is not a huge difference in Dell selling PCs or Nokia selling mobile phones to Ireland or Finland or anywhere else. Other markets are distinctly national or regional however. Witness the market for beer or newspapers or cheese to name a few. To view the fare on offer in retail in those secotrs you would know what country you are in.
