Todhchaí na Gaeilge ó thuaidh

category national | rights, freedoms and repression | opinion/analysis author Friday June 15, 2007 16:18author by Ógra B - Ógra Shinn Féinauthor email osfnational at yahoo dot ie Report this post to the editors

Tá stádas na Gaeilge i dtuaisceart na hÉireann níos fearr anois ná a bhí ariamh ó aimsir an chríochdheighilt. Tá pobal Gaeilge bríomhar in iarthar Bhéal Feirste a bhfuil ag dul ó neart go neart comh maith le na mílte taobh amuigh den cathair mór a labhrann Gaeilge. Bunaíodh an chéad Gaeltacht uirbeach in iarthar Bhéal Feirste, is rud iontach é sin do Ghaeil san tuaisceart agus ba cheart go mbeidh misneach orainn uilig a bhfuil ag súil le todhchaí maith d’ár dteanga.

ofigeachcultursenan.jpg

Tá cuid rudaí a bheith orainn a bhaint amach ionnas go leanfaí leis an fás. Go bunúsach caithfidh muid cearta na nGael a choasaint tríd reachtaíoct dearfach a thabhairt isteach. Tá acht gaeilge de dhíth ionnas go mbéadh gach cheart Gaeilge a úsáid sna háiteanna a bhfuil Béarla a úsáid anois. Leis an acht Gaeilge atá muid a labhairt faoi anseo bhéadh muid in ann comarsáid a dhéannamh trí Gaeilge le eagraíochtaí rialtais ar bith, na húdarás áitiúil san árámh, na póilíní agus na cúirteanna ‘ríoga’.

Leis an acht beidh muid ag cinntiú cearta teanga na nGael agus ag caomhnú an phobal Gaeilge a bhful againn. Ach chun an Ghaeilge a choinneál ar an bóthair ar a bhfuil sí anois caithfidh deis a thabhairt do ghach pháiste an teanga a fhoghlaim ar scoil. Níl go leor gaelscoileanna ann anois don éileamh sin san tuaisceart agus ar ndóigh an deisceart fosta. Mar shampla níl ach gaelscoil beag amháin i bhFear Manach, níl iar-bhunscoil Gaeilge ann ar chor ar bith.

Tá bacanna ann ar ndóigh ar fhorbairt na Gaeilge ó thuaidh. Mar is eol dúinn uilig tá na hAontachtaíthe Daonlathacha go láidir in éadan na hAchta. Chuir siad i bhforógra s’acusan go rachfadh siad i gcoinne aon reachtaíocht Gaeilge dona Sé Chondae.
Comh maith leosan d’fhógair na hAontachtaithe Uladh agus Jim Allister go rabhadar in éadan cothromaíocht teanga a thabhairt don Ghaeilge

Le Poots, an Aontachtaí daonlathach i gceannas ar an roinn cultúir, cinnte beidh sé deacair ach caithfidh muid an brú a choinnéal ar na húdarás ionas go mbeidh an bua againn. Gheall na hAontachtaí dá gcuid vótóirí go gcuireadh siad i gcoinne na hachta, tá an cumhacht acu, is iad an páirtí is mó, mar sin caithfidh muid an cath a throid ar pionsabail Aoine an Chéasta, ar cearta daonna, ar prionsabal an comhionnanas.

Tar éis dhá slógaí móra go lár Bhéal Feirste agus na mílte aighneachtaí seolta chuig an roinn cultúir, ealaíon agus fóillíochta caithfidh go bhfuil an teachtaracht ag na húdarás anois go bhfuil pobal Gaeilge ó thuaidh agus caithfidh an rialtas agus an tsochaí uilig é seo a aithniú tríd gach ceart teanga a thabhairt dóibh is atá ag lucht an Bhéarla. Is í an Ghaeilge céad teanga na hÉireann agus ní cheart go dtagtar deireadh leis an stádas sin ag an teoireann bréagach seo. Feicimid i gceann tamaill cé comh dáiríre is a bhí rialtas na Breataine nuair a shínigh siad Conradh Naomh Andriú agus gheall siad acht Gaeilge don tuaisceart.
