Jump To Comment: 6 5 4 3 2 1Enda Kenny is 'emerging as the great white hope' to remove FF.
This means that the meedea is firmly planting the Rainbow in our collective
imagination.
O yes- the rainbow coalition- they refuse to 'do' politics and have taken on
zero issues in this state- a bit like SF.

http://www.irishblogs.ie - (is Angela Merkel a secret blueshirt?)
yes- Angela Merkel has this last week interefered in the "irish Political Process"
Now - how was it done- she wrote a letter of support to Enda Kenny which
was read out at the conference. sure we all know that Kenny was not
democratically elected to the leadership of FG. We also know that
he is nasty and not very polite and that Pat Rabbitte is politically thick.
So call the election- the torture of the posturing is unbearable. The
Government collapsed in 2006 and we have been through one of the
longest and thickest attempt to pretend other wise by any regime.
There is no Government unless its run by IBEC-
Spring Council of the EU is happening on the 8th and ninth of March.
Issues raised by Merckel;
1. External energy Policy (negotiating with Russia)- G8.
2.Security and Defence declaration.
3.End of Cold War,
4. and etc

The Eight of March is international women's day- so Merckel , it seems
will be busy, busy.

The first formal meeting of the Ministers for Justice and Home Affairs of the German
Presidency of the EU will take place in Dresden on the 14th to 16th of January 2007.
" The fight against terrorism and crime is a major priority in shaping and strengthening
our common area of freedom, security and justice. This is an area where our citizens
expect Europe to provide common solutions".
1. Cross border police co-operation.(transposing Prum convention into EU Law)
2.Judicial co-operation in family law and law of inheritance.
3.Cross border use of information technology by judicial authorities.
4.Strategy to fight illegal migration by strenghtening border police co-operation and
iniatiating a dialogue with the countries of origin as equal partners.

The new EU president has wasted no time, her first duty has been to underscore
the EU's close personal relationship and search for one world trade accord with
the Bush regime. The blurb accompanying her visit stateside has been that
the accords will be positive and diplomatic but she will not shy away from the
issues of Guantamano nor the rendition flights in Europe.
In November 2005, the Warsaw Voice news published info on the use of Szymany Airfield
being used by the CIA for 'rendition', today's Guardian investigates the claims and speaks
with the female director of the Airport. Both stories are available through Google.

The Ft headliner caught my eye as it trumpeted closer accord (bi-lateral indeed) between
the EU entity and the US entity. The full text of the interview is in the FT*.
{excerpt]
FT : " Matthias Wissman, Your fellow member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU)
has called for the creation of a transatlantic single market by 2015. Is this your target too?"
Merkel: " I do not want to mention a specific date. but we have accumulated a certain expertise
about single markets in Europe (!), which we can apply on a transatlantic level. With increasing
globalisation, this can be a good basis for transatlantic cooperation. In the EU we have also
learnt how to combine the Anglo-saxon and continental legal systems, which are very
different from one another. This is why I think transatlantic co-operation will in fact be
more straightforward in many areas than might appear at first glance."
{or as a certain correspondent might say hmmmmmmmmmmmmm}
Other global news: in the Guardian review section of Saturday Vlad Putin, stated that
he and others were very 'surprised' that the Israeli premier had been indicted for rape,
because " they didn't believe he 'had it in him".
There are many meanings to 'Share the wealth': unfortunately the 'wealth' is at the
moment an oligarichical issue which involves a few bullies, right wing elitists,
sex-discriminators who intend to build a brave new world from the unlearned lessons of
the European past.
Pope Benedict called for World Peace on Sunday, his role in the EU and with the
Christian right accordists is opening out ,( the speech which I will link into comments
again notes that 'terrorism 'is a threat.)
