Text received re Rossport.

category mayo | anti-capitalism | news report author Sunday October 01, 2006 13:23author by Elizabeth Report this post to the editors

Cops called in from around Ireland.

Body of text:

"Just heard that cops from around the country are being shipped
against wills to Rossport for a four week tour. That means the fight
is on from Monday- I reckon.
Please spread the word, I can't as I am away from technology and
most numbers" (ends)

The text received from grasroots activist this morning at 12.04 pm.

The Dept of the Marine and Natural resources, together with Transport and
Environment are keeping very quiet about Berties troubles now- aren't they?

but Geraldine Kennedy destroyed the evidence.

Solidarity to the people of Rossport.

There are lots of rumours flying around at the moment and it is likely they will make a stab at getting into Ballinaboy again in the coming week, if you have information it is best to contact your local Shell to Sea group, or if there isn't one Rossport Solidarity Camp at rossportsolidaritycamp@gmail.com or via the phone numbers on the site: http://www.struggle.ws/rsc/ This avoids the potential for mis-information as that way the call is coming from the one known reliable source. That said we have tracked down where the above text message was coming from and it is coming from a reputable person.

who is not treating it as an unconfirmed rumour.

will phone contacts at camp.

Yes this is reliable, however we cannot ask people to treat any text message they receive or posting to indymedia.ie as such, hence it is important to give the information to the camp or Shell to Sea first. Otherwise we would be leaving ourselves wide open to mis-information (which the above message isn't). But thanks for spreading the word!

It would seem to me very convenient indeed, that while Bertie lies for five minutes, the Gardai will assist some more of his friends.

Good point indeed, Ruby. It's no coincidence at all. It's time Bertie's role in the Shell disgrace was highlighted. Rossport needs support.
