War Crime: Preposterous!

category international | anti-war / imperialism | other press author Monday July 31, 2006 10:58author by finch Report this post to the editors

Indirectly confirmed by John Bolton, U.S. Ambassador to the UN (and sociopath) in a public statement; the first casualty of war is LANGUAGE – the needless slaughter of innocent children in Qana by an Israeli airstrike was an “accident of war”! In the face of an obvious war crime it is now incumbent on the Bush regime, especially its representatives Bolton and Rice, to define the rules of engagement and what constitutes a war crime. We do not forget how quick the U.S. and NATO were to condemn war crimes in the Balkan conflict – it would seem that allies of the U.S. (Israel) are immune; their obvious crimes become tragic ‘accidents’ whereas those opposed to the U.S. are war criminals and liable to indefinite incarceration (‘Torture’ Bay) or trial in an ‘independent’ court at the Hague.

(The Irish people have condemned the war).

but the Irish people have not demanded that those who lead them condemn the War.

=Therefore there has been no official condemnation of the Beligerent foreign policy in the Middle-East, by the Irish government.

The mass media focuses on the massacre and its aftermath, but the government drags the condemnatory language to it's lips and drowns it in propaganda, "We condemn the loss of civilian life
in the Lebanon".

Not:

*We condemn the refusal of the Bush -hawks to stop the war which is by one of her close allies.*

*We condemn war. (period)*

This would result in the charge of complicity in evil, truth vanishes -and a happy medium wherein
public opinion can be channelled into grief and fear and projection becomes a manageable situation.

*The Irish Government on day 20 of this war have refused to condemn the war*.

Two European countries have openly condemned the war and not taken the middle road of refusal to stand against what is US beligerent policy in the Middle-East.

*The language of condemnation is key .*

it involves a recognition that our foreign policy is complicit and not neutral.

*The image of condemnation is key:*

It involves a picture of the Irish Taoiseach passing on the Irish people's disgust at war to
both the US ambassador and the Israeli Ambassador.

This has not happened.

I just came across this at the URL below. Thankfully there are actually real humans in Israeli who oppose this slaughter.

It reads in part:

Forty Israeli film directors have sent a letter to participants in the Festival of Arab Cinema (Biennale du Cinema Arabe) in Paris. Their letter appeared in Il Manifesto, 25 July 2006.

They write: "We salute Arab filmmakers assembled in Paris for the Biennale du Cinema Arabe. Through you, we wish to send a message of closeness and solidarity to our Lebanese colleagues currently beseiged and bombarded by our country's army. We firmly oppose the cruel brutality of Israeli policy, which has reached a new apex in the last weeks.

Nothing can justify the ongoing occupation, closure, and oppression of Palestine. Nothing can justify the bombardment of civilians and the destruction of infrastructure in Lebanon and Gaza. Permit us to tell you how extremely important your films, which we strive to see and circulate among us, are to our eyes. They make it possible for us to know you and to better understand you. Thanks to your films, the men, women, and children who suffer in Gaza, Beirut, and anywhere where our troops exercise their violence, have a face. We would like to thank you and encourage you to continue your work in spite of difficulties.
