A visibly angry Met Police boss Sir Mark Rowley grabbed a reporter's microphone and chucked it on the ground this morning when he was grilled about "two-tier policing". Erm, isn't that criminal damage?

A biomedical scientist who called her Portuguese neighbour a "Spanish whore" during a row over a fire alarm was cautioned by police for a hate crime and struck off. No wonder the cops have no time to solve burglaries.

England's seaside towns, like Southport, are microcosms of the country at large, where the magnificent infrastructure has been neglected to the point of decay and we barbarians live amongst its ruins, says Joanna Gray.

CYM press release condeming plans by the government of the Czech Republic to ban the Czech Communist Youth unless they renounce their marxist politics.
PRESS RELEASE
DATE RELEASED: 26/02/06

HANDS-OFF CZECH COMMUNIST YOUTH!

Members of the Connolly Youth Movement will stage a protest at the Embassy of the Czech Republic on Monday 27th at 1 p.m. and join with youth organisations at Czech Embassies across the world to condem the Czech Republic’s intention to ban the Communist Youth Union (KSM) if it does not renounce its marxist political philosophy and communist identity by March.

“This attack is purely politically motivated. The KSM do not engage in activities any different from other political youth organisations like the Young Conservatives, for instance. The status quo in the Czech Republic are worried due to the growing support for the Communist Party in the Czech Republic as disatisfaction with the reality of capitalist restoration grows,” stated Nicholas O’Hagan, International Secretary of the CYM.

“Furthermore, it is only one attack of many being made on the communist movement and democratic rights across Europe. Paradoxically, this is taking place fifteen years since communism was pronounced dead,” stated Nicholas O’Hagan, “Clearly, it is an attempt by the right to place limits on democracy and prove that there is no alternative to global capitalism. We are protesting in defence of democracy and freedom in general, not just for our brothers and sisters in the KSM.”
