By Jim Gray (Sligo Champion) The bitter internal Labour Party row in Sligo took another twist this morning with confirmation by Clr. Declan Bree that he is to lodge an official complaint against party leader, Mr. Pat Rabbitte, accusing him of bringing the party into disrepute. This follows a letter to the Irish Times in which Mr. Rabbitte claimed that Clr. Bree had used his position as Mayor of Sligo to stop a Traveller accommodation site going into his own electoral ward and sought to put it into the ward of a colleague where there were already three such sites. |

Jump To Comment: 2 1Time for Declan to quit the shameful Blueshirt support group which has developed under Rabbitte. Victims of loyalist terror from Ahoghill in the heart of Paisley country have been shamefully snubbed by Rabbitte and his cohorts in FG and the PDs. The group travelled to Leinster House from Antrim to brief TDs and Senators on their plight accompanied by their local SF MLA. FF to thieir credit met with group some of whom were driven from their homes presumably by DUP supporting thugs. Rabbitte apparently apologised for non attendance on the basis he was sick however while senior FF representatives greeted the group Rabbitte after what can only be described as a miraculous recovery was seen feeding his face in the Leinster House canteen.
Travellers, victims of loyalist terror who gives a shit - Vote Labour/FG/PD - to build a truly inclusive society.
As a former member of the "Officials" I am painfully aware of the type of character assassination indulged in by these elements. In this affair I believe Bree first and foremost, but I think an experienced and committed socialist like him should have ditched the Labour party a long time ago.
