not since year 1928 anno cuchalain have the perfidious briton saxons had such an opportunity to corrupt the youngsters of our fair isle by manipulating the republican purity of gaelic sport.
I'd like to add a personal comment, from the heart,
to an tuasal óg ö Brädaigh, mindful of the meritocratic aspirations at heart of every Irish republic, when the happy day comes and the ó bradaigh and RSF line sees a new leader born, will he be a ruairi óg ó bradaigh óg? or if a child ruairina nic bradaigh óig?
better still to call him óg ruairi óg ó bradaigh and avoid having child heiresses.
Or you could just start a new surname "ó bradiagh óg"
& WOE!
but woe betide any of these new british army types with the sliothars in Tyrone who'll think of anglicising that name to
to rogue brady.

While the sentiments of Irish unity expressed by O'Bradaigh Mor (i presume) are justified, his attack on tthe Gaelic Athletics Association are not. The G.A.A athletics association was founded predominently by members of the National Party which accepted and participated in British rule in Ireland. So from that point of view the acceptance of the political status quo is a traditional G.A.A stance.
The remarks about the P.S.N.I participation are also incorrect. Being a police force under local control they are not strictly speaking any more part of the crown occcupation force than Messr. Adams and McGuinness. They are paid by the crown exchequer.
Just as the Nationalists in Ulster appear to have accepted Adams and McGuinness as their spokesmen, so too the G.A.A members of Ulster must have agreed to P.S.N.I participation.
The struggle for Irish unity and a reaccptance of the ideals of the 1916 Proclamation has always had many faces and the G.A.A.a has been one of them. To begin to criticise an organisation who have done more for the restoration of our culture than any other is foolish. On recieving the Liam Mc Carty Cup , Cork Captain Sean Og O'hAilpin gave his acceptance speech entirely as Gaeilge: for example. While we may personally disagree with the decision, we must respect the views of the people of Ulster. That does not mean that we should accept the right of the British to occupy any part of this Island.
Ruairi O'Bradaigh would be better concerning himself with the unification of the resistance movement than issuing dictates to other elements of the Irish Nation.
Observer , youve made a number of good points but if you re-read what Mr OBradaigh said he condemned the attempt to turn the gaa into a recruiting sergeant for the crown forces . He didnt accuse it of actually being one . I dont believe he actually attacked the GAA at all ..
The GAA is clearly being pressurised north and south into helping make the British forces acceptable . It is a disgrace to see it used as a pawn in British strategy by the very same people who hypocritically state politics should be kept out of sport . All politics except British politics .
I agree with you 100% though that RSF could be doing the cause of freedom a far greater service if they proactively sought to unite resistance to British rule on every front and dropped their ridiculous platform of ideological elitism . The snubbing of other groups who share many of their aims on the grounds of differing ideological approaches and nothing else is a ridiculous state of affairs given the gravity of the situation facing republicanism today and the massive scale of Sinn Feins treachery .
The membership of Sinn Fein today is very different from it's membership pre ceasfire. That they have sold out the principle of armed resistance to occupation is no surprise. Lets face it, can you see Mary Lou keeping a wee parcel for the boys? or feeding a volunteer come to that! Sinn Fein are returning to their origins too, Arthur Griffith! There are enough political parties on this island, we don't need another. What we need is a resistance movement that adheres to the principles of 1916.
That's all RSF are capable of: doing absolutely fuck all, but calling everyone else traitors. Where's their 'war'? Yet everyone else is a failure in their eyes.
They can't even speak Irish properly (it's Fianna Na hEireann, not Na Fianna Eireann!), where do they get off being more Irish-than-thou? Especially funny as I've been told by a member that 80% of their movement is based overseas!
is there a date for that?
In actual fact, it is neither Na Fianna Eireann nor Fianna na hEireann! The correct title should be "Fianna Éireann", although the term "Na Fianna Éireann" is found in the storytelling tradition.
Fair Play to the GAA on their weekend decision to allow the PSNI college into the Sigerson Cup. The GAA has proved again its republican values by opening its doors to more Irishmen and Irishwomen to play its games, regardless of their employment.. As for the PSNI being a british force - give us a break, their membership is nearly 100% Irishmen and women, most of whom are also British - you can be both you know!
The narrow version of Irishness as expressed by RSF is rejected totally by most Irish people, thank God. They aren't republicans at all, just narrow nationalists with a blood lust. How many of them will die for Ireland? Fuck All! But they'll cheer on others to the rafters. Just a shower of sectarian bigots, as bad as the DUP.
the name of na Fianna, but ye don't give a toss that a motorway is being ploughed through the scene of their final battle and where most of them are said to be buried in the Book of Leinster.

Sinn Fein announce this in the middle of Tyrones victory celebrations , hoping that at least one county will be too hungover to notice . No one wants to spoil the feelgood factor . Cynical bunch of scumbags alright .
to object to fellow Irishmen and women playing within the GAA framwork is just to cement partition and encourage division within Irelands communitys.
Well said, I agree. I will no longer support the GAA over this.
This British police force in Ireland PSNI/RUC tried to murder me and my family and the partitionist politicians in Dublin just didin't give a damn.
This story has never been told.
