Festive revellers may have to be careful which tunes they pick for a Christmas sing-along down at the pub, as songs like ?Baby It?s Cold Outside?, ?Do They Know It?s Christmas??, and ?Jingle Bells? might offend the staff.

Podcasts are great. But by leading us to spend our time wearing headphones listening to others chat, they're leaving us more isolated than ever, says Joanna Gray. What we need are podcasts that bring us together.

Heritage week

King Ollamh Fodhla

King Ollamh Fodhla is very closely associated with the Hill of Tara, and with Brehon Law.

One of the amazing things concerning King Ollamh Fodhla is that he appears to have been completely "written out" of modern Irish history books (for reasons unknown), even though he is possibly the most important - by far - of all the kings of Ireland.

Partly for the purpose of trying to promote "Heritage Week" (which is next week) further information about King Ollamh Fodhla has been compiled at the following new website:

In connection with the planned M3 tolled motorway, scheduled at present to go through the Tara / Skreen Valley, an e-mail has been sent to Minister Martin Cullen TD (Transport) and Minister Dick Roche TD(Heritage) regarding the connection between King Ollamh Fodhla, The Hill of Tara, and Brehon Law.

The text of the e-mail (dated September 3rd 2005) can be seen at the following Internet address:

"In the piers between the windows of the interior dome (Four Courts, Dublin) are eight colossal statues, in alto relievo, resting upon consoles or brackets, representing Punishment, Eloquence, Mercy, Prudence, Law, Wisdom, Justice, and Liberty. Over those statues an entablature with a highly-enriched frieze is continued round the dome, and immediately above each window, in the frieze, are medallions of the following eight distinguished legislators, Moses, Lycurgus, Solon, Numa, Confucius, Alfred, Manco-Capac, and Ollamh-Fodhla."

The above text comes from a much longer piece at:
http://www.chapters.eiretek.org/books/Wright/wright22.htm

It shows that at the time the Four Courts building in Dublin was designed and constructed, around the 1780s, King Ollamh Fodhla was regarded as one of the eight greatest legislators in world history.

Additional information showing the very close links between the Hill of Tara, Brehon Law, and King Ollamh Fodhla, can be found at the following address:

that Ollamh-Fodhla came just before Finnachta and reigned from 1317BC to 1278BC, and is thought by some to have been a friend and student of the prophet jeremiah but none of those claims have been accepted by peer review.
This smells of celtic supremacism. What basis is there for any of the biographical information we are being offered in these links? And considering the political agenda of the "celtic party" and Vercingetorix (Ireland) as available for all to read, are we to think we are being infitrated by fascists???
