israel army holds 2 tds at gunpoint

category international | anti-war / imperialism | news report author Thursday June 09, 2005 00:14author by Herald reader Report this post to the editors

Cover page of Evening Herald, Tuesday 7 June 2005

The Headline of yersterday's Evening Herald reads:
OUTRAGE AS ISRAELI ARMY HOLDS 2 TDs AT GUNPOINT
'They took aim at us' -John Gormely
ISRAELI soldiers aimed loaded rifles at shocked TDs on a tour of a West Bank town.
(Newspiece by Michael Lavery that I reproduce here for Indymedia, for those who didn't get a chance to read it)

"The TDs, including John Gormley and Tony Gregory, were searched twice within 20 metres in the flashpoint town of Hebron. The tense incidents happened as the delegation of TDs visited the area as part of a fact finding mission yesterday afternoon.
Now Green Party leader Mr Gormley has reported the incident officially to the United Nations.
The incident took place two days after the draw between Ireland and Israel at Lansdowne Road, where the Israelis have claimed they were made feel unwelcome by the Irish.
There is no evidence however of any connection between the armed incident involving the deputies and hostile coverage of the game in the Israeli press.
John Gormley today described how the armed drama unfolded: "As we entered down an abandoned arcade in the company of some Palestinian officials, two Israeli soldiers shouted at us, then took up shooting positions."
"When the Palestinians explained that we were parliamentarians, the soldiers ran off towards the checkpoint.
"At the checkpoint, independent TD Tony Gregory asked the soldiers to explain their actions.
"They repied tht their actions were 'classified'," Mr Gormley said.
"We were then searched at the checkpoint."
"Twnety metres later, we were serched again at a second checkpoint just in front of the mosque in the old city of Hebron.
Going through the divided city of Hebron -there are frequent clashes between Jewish settlers and Palestinians- was "an errie experience for all of the Oireachtas delegation," he said.
"The only real visible presence around the desolate strets are the soldiers."
Mr Gormley added: "Not only is the behaviour of the Israeli soldiers involved in the incident unacceptable, the behaviour of the Israeli Government in the West Bank and Gaza is deplorable."
"What we witnessed on our trip this weekend is worse than the apartheid regime in South Africa," said Mr Gormley, who flies home today.
The parliamentary delegation which arived in the Middle East on Saturday included Mr Gormley and Mr Gregory, Labour TD Eamonn Gilmore, Sinn Fein TD Aengus O'Snodaigh, Fianna Fail Senator Terry Leyden and Fine Gael Senator John Paul Phelan.
The delegation also included public relations officer Ms Euileen Dunne.
They met with Palestinian MPs and politicians, visited Ramallah, Bethlehem, and Hebron where they held talks with members of the Council from the district of Hebron yesterday afternoon.
They also met Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmad Qure'i and Foreign Minister Dr Nasser Al-Qudwa."

Obviosuly you have never been to Palestine, an airport security check is far different than m-16 toting Israeli soldiers pointing the rifles at you.

In most cases parliamentary delegations are also offered hospitality etc at airports and elsewhere

you are missing the point here,

5 members of our democratic oireachtas were stopped and had loaded rifles cocked and aimed at them. The we harrassed and searched despite their status as visiting parliamentarians.

One has said that what he say was worse than apartheid south africa.

Stupid flippant remarks justy show your own ignorance of the reality

I can hear you already saying that these politicans dont represent you etc etc etc well they represent this democracy and its people and its scandalous that they were treated like this

but also remember that if they had been palestinians they would have been shot !!!!!

My name is Hiba and I am 13 years old. I live in Santry. My dad is Palestinian, and he is a doctor. Sometimes we visit Palestine. I do not think it is nice that there is war there. I do not like it when Hamas do bombs. I also do not like it when Israel soldiers shoot Palestinian children. I know Hamas are bad, but I wish you would see that Israeli soldiers and Sharon are also bad. Many innocent people have been killed by the Israelis. Many children have been killed.

I wish you would not be so nasty when people say that it is bad to shoot children. You seem to ignore it when bad things happen to Palestinians. I will say a prayer that you will change your attitude, and become a nicer person.Children are children, Israeli or Palestinian. You should be nicer.

You are a deliberate nasty piece of work. You deliberatly ignore accounts of murder of children by the IDF, and choose only to respond to points made by giving your own grabled rethorical take on things, I think you actually enjoy it when you read stories about murdered children.

It obvious why you post here, you don't actually care for any 'debate' as such. You just want to upset people by deliberatly ign oring these incidents. I mean, seriously, you are not very good at convincing anyone why IDF actions are legitimate and just. Remember, this is not about 1948 or 67. This is about children being murderd, villages and towns being denied water, and farmers having their land seized.

You disgust me. I wish the law of Karma was an actual real concept, I'd love to see your nasty, mouthy, one track mind gets what it should have coming to it.I'd love you to suffer. I want you to get severe depression. I want things to go seriously wrong in your life. Amen.

The death of any child is a tragedy. But I truly believe the IDF and indeed Ariel Sharon regret the deaths of children as much as you and I do. The only way forward for Palestinians is peace which leads to an independent Palestine alongside Israel.

You can't pigeon hole me. For me, thats just common sense. Thugs with guns need to be taken out.

When it comes to kids, though, I think the average decent human being drops political banners, rolls up their sleeves and encourages mob justice.Because I get upset at child murder does not make me a socialist, an anarchisat, a pinko, an anti semite or a fascist. It makes me one angry son of a bitch, who transforms into a creature capable of enjoying both giving and receiving(if I must) pain.

Why is it that when anyone legitimately critisizes the state of Israel they are anti-Jew?

So if anyone critisizes the U.S. are they anti- American,? If anyone critisizes Britian are they Anti-British, if they critisize Italy are they anti Itallian?

Why is it that a state that gets away with so many human rights abuses can"t be critisized?

The truth is now being exposed about the real intentions of the state of Israel, that is what all zionists fear, because their land grad and occupation can no longer be justified, by their racist zionist philosophy.

The statement that includes the term Judenhass reveals quite a bit. First of all if one critisizes the state of Israel they are jew-haters, which must mean that Israel is a Jewish state, which means that it is meant just for Jews, which is defined by some quasi-racial/religious doctrine. Not very democratic by any means.

I personally find practitioners of such craft hilarious. This seems to be the logic of them:

Anti-racist is racist except when it is pro-racist, then it is anti-racist.

The murdered were not murdered except when they were murdered, and even if they actually weren't murdered, as in battle, then they were murdered.

Dead children are not dead children except when they are our children as all other children are not children.

Terrorism is not terrorism except when it is terrorism and our terrorism is anti-terrorism and our terrorists do not commit terrorist acts.

It's like something out of Monty Python, only darker. I wrote something about this baffling phenomena one time after hearing about a wedding party being blew up which resulted in an appalling loss of life. My first reaction was 'Bastards. The terrorists have done it again', but then I heard that because that particular act of terrorism was committed by anti-terrorist terrorists then it wasn't really an act of terrorism but a terrorist act of anti-terrorism committed by terrorists against people who weren't terrorists. Are you keeping up here? Don't worry if your not because neither am I.

NON-TERRORISTS COMMIT NON-MURDER IN FALLUJAH (AGAIN)

by Nordie

Foreign non-terrorists last night claimed responsibility for launching a missile strike at a wedding party in the Iraqi occupied town of Fallujah, which is located in the country of Iraq, in order to liberate it for themselves. Dr. Ahmed Saeed said his hospital in Fallujah received 13 dead, including the groom, and 17 wounded, including the bride. He said most of the injured were female relatives of the groom who were staying at the bombed building after the wedding celebration. The dead also included a father and his six sons.

The non-terrorist organisation, known as the US Army, called a press conference to celebrate the non-murders (a spokesman joked ‘Hey, somebody may as well celebrate something about this wedding!’) and acknowledged they bombed the wedding party but said that the dead and injured couldn’t have been innocent civilians as their bombings are ‘surgical strikes’ which kill only ‘bad guys’* and so by definition those who are killed by a US Army bomb automatically lose any civilian status they may previously have held. The spokesman, who was wearing a badge inscribed with the legend ‘They only hate us for our freedoms’, then, without a hint of irony, stated to journalists that the purpose of these ‘surgical' strikes by the US Army against Iraqis is to battle ‘foreign fighters in the country’. When the non-terrorist was asked whether it would be considered terrorism if Al’Qaeda fired missiles into weddings in America he replied ‘Of course it would because attacking civilians in America is terrorism, however when America attacks civilians in another country it's non-terrorism because America doesn't do terrorism as you need to be a terrorist to do terrorism, a position you obtain by attacking civilians and as America doesn't attack civilians then any civilians that she kills ain't civilians anymore. ....wha?...emm...look just shut up before I liberate you too’. He did however concede that no matter what he called them they were all fucking dead anyway, before leaving the press conference early, reportedly in preparation for another bout of non-murdering which is expected to take place anytime now.

The non-murdering, non-terrorist commander-in-chief of the US Army has already told the world that Jesus makes him do it. You know, for peace and that.

Interesting isn't it how people creep out of the woodwork to defend the criminal behaviour of Israel.

We've even seen "counter" demonstrations against legitimate demonstrations against the Israeli anschluss of the occupied West Bank.

The strange thing is that these people appear primarily when Israel is attacked politically and they are conspicuously absent in combatting the activities of the extreme right.

One could infer from this behaviour that Zionism regards the extreme right as their allies in the putting down of all criticism of Israel.

The benefits of relying on multiple sources, not just one with a visible agenda, are very obvious from looking at your post.

The effort of the "author" of the piece to paint all Irish people, the gardai and vast bulk of protestors as acquiescing to anti-semitism, if not overtly conducting anti-semitic attacks on one of the main streets of the capital would be hilarious if this were not such a serious issue.

You might want to ask the Brisco's (a leading Jewish familiy in Irish politics for decades) and leaders of the Jewish community in Ireland about the "rampant" level of anti-semitism in today's Ireland before publishing such tripe in future.

There is nothing unique to Israel about such protests and for your information the Irish do not take kindly to colonial occupation and oppression , having been on the receiving end of it for hundreds of years, and this is not the first time such protests have occured.

I didn't hear any such accusations of racism leveled against those tens of thousands of Irish protestors who gave the other more famous apartheid regieme of the south africans a much harder time in the 80's.

Jabotinsky pulled no punches, Noel dresses it all up with lies like ' IDF really do care when the accidently killl children, even if its accidental sharp shooting, and it is done by deomcratic young chaps who accidently giggled when the realised what they done. The fact that they high fived each other was because it's an old Jewish tradition of, er, praying. If you don't like it, it means you are a Nazi Jew hater.(Wags finger)You need to mature, grow up and respect democracy and the West.(Lights pipe, and decides to work harder on his Benjamin Franklin accent).'

The only reason Israel talks about Gaza withdrawls and West Bank withdrawls is because of those pesky UN resolutions they have to delay and stall.Logically, the borders created by post 67 are much more feasible to maintain. The problem is the burgeoning population that is the Palestinians.

You see, tragic as it is, I still have more respect for lunatics like Kach who say Gas them, transfer them, kill them. People who dress it all up and pretend to be worthy democrats are a cancerous sort of human unworthy of life. We need more militant racist Zionists on this forum, as well as Islamist fundamentalists.

That will get the 'debate' really going. Creeps like Noel won't need to pretend to be nice to Palestinian kids. Likewise, we won't have moderates trying to convince the forum that Hamas are going to be gentle and kind to the Jews in a united, deomcratic Palestine, when they regularly stone Palestinian women just for not wearing hijab.

Nope, we need red hot blooded roaring racists on both sides. Noel can fuck off and get a job at some Institute for Honourable Lies. Jews and Muslims will agree with me, lying is a sin. So no more lies, bring on the hate. This will help kill off energy vampires like Noel, who is a nonce.( Well, he called me a Jew hating potential suicide bomber, so it is open season as far as I'm concerned.)

I only hope Chekov allows this poiint to be made, he's awfully pernickity with points I make. In a past life in Russia, he had me shot in a gulag, in his capacity as a NKVD officert just because I was funnier than him. He got a medal, and later retired to his dacha, where he died in 1972 of heatstroke. He was born again circa 1980, to breath new life in to the revolution.

I quite like Noel's outrageous lies. He entertains me. It's like a interview I seen on telly one night many moons ago with the late Billy Wright who claimed 'I don't hate Catholics'...

I suppose he'll be telling us next that Hitler accidentally gassed all those people. Or is he not affiliated to those particular Nazis? I can't seem to tell the 'difference' anymore as those racist murder gangs all look and sound the same to me.

Some people you just don't agree with nonetheless make you laugh. Jim Goad ( author Redneck Manifesto) comes to mind.

Noel on the other hand wishes for people to take his sorry ass seriously. I would, if I had him down some backwoods somewhere ties to the back of a pickup truck.(Just been listening to Trucker music, yee haww)

The 57th Anniversary of the State of the Zionists

The state of Israel, as the hypostatization of Zionism, is a primary source of suffering, oppression and injustice , and at this moment, is the most significant source of injustice and consequent turmoil in the northern hemisphere. This is true because Zionism and the human rights of the indigenous people of Palestine are incompatible and contradictory. It is also true because American uncritical support for the aggressive and expansionist policies of Israel is the primary source of anti-American hatred in the Arab world, and much of the rest of the world, and is the central cause of the resulting terrorism directed against American interests. American support for the continued subjugation by Israel of the Palestinian people was focal in motivating the attack of the Pentagon and World Trade Center in 2001.

Indeed, Osama bin Laden stated, in a message to the American people in October of 2004, “As I watched the destroyed towers in Lebanon, it occurred to me punish the unjust the same way [and] to destroy the towers in America so it could taste some of what we are tasting and to stop killing our children and women.”

Bush has told us that they attacked us because they “envy our freedom”. That is the shallow, self serving interpretation of a shallow mind.

Mr bin Laden was referring to the Israeli 1982 invasion of Lebanon which resulted in the deaths of 20,000 Lebanese and Palestinians and also included the massacre of approximately 2000 Palestinians at the refugee camps of Sabre and Chitilla in southern Beirut for which Israel and much of the rest of the world held Ariel Sharon responsible, though he was only punished nominally.

The turmoil we are now witnessing in Iraq, in the wake of the US invasion and overthrow of the Saddam Hussein government, is Israeli centered as it is the manifestation of the American government’s program of eliminating Israel’s enemies and making the region safe for Israel. This policy is driven by the pro-Israeli neo-cons within the administration and has taken place in an atmosphere of inherited prejudice induced by the constant demonization of Israel’s enemies promulgated by Zionists supporters.

Since the formation of Israel 57 years ago, Israel has killed 50,000 Palestinians, according to estimates by Israeli historian Ilan Pappe. Occupying no more than 6% of the land area of Palestine at the beginning of 1948, Israel captured 80% of it by the year’s end in a wave of ethnic cleansing that saw the expulsion of 800,000 of the indigenous Arab’s. Israel now exercises control the entirety of Palestine as it also controls the population living within the territory captured in the “67 War who are obliged to face daily humiliation and degradation as Israel confiscates their property and subjects them multiple checkpoints that prevent or severely restrict their travel and commerce. Forty seven percent of the residents of the occupied territories are now living on less than $2 per day owing to Israel’s destruction of businesses, transportation routes, and agricultural capacity.

Israel has destroyed 12,000 Palestinian homes and over one million olive and citrus trees since its capture of the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem in 1967. With the recent killing of two Palestinian boys who were protesting the construction of the Apartheid wall in the village of Beit Loqya west of Ramallah in the West Bank, Israel, since October of 2000, has killed 3,847 Palestinians. That comes to 71.24 Palestinians killed by Israel per month over the five year period, or 2.38 killed per day, a fact you never hear about on CNN or on the rest of the American media. The fact is that Israel can kill Palestinians with total impunity, and does so.

The government of Israel looks the other way when fanatical Jewish settlers especially in the Hebron area, harass and abuse the Palestinian farmers and villagers. These settlers, many of whom regularly celebrate the anniversaries of the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin and the massacre by Beruch Goldstein of 29 praying Moslem worshipers at the Hebron Mosque in 1994, regularly set fire to the villager’s crops and fields, and spread rat poison on their fields poisoning their sheep and goats. They put dead animals in the wells and water conduits used by the Palestinians to deprive them of clean of water. Carrying automatic weapons, they regularly assault and intimidate farmers to try to keep them from working their fields, They throw rocks through their windows of homes of villagers and terrorize the families. This is all consistent with the program of Sharon and his Likud government. They are fulfilling the formulation enunciated earlier by Moshe Dyan – “We have no solution for the Palestinians. They can live like dogs or they can leave.”

Israel is actively taking over Palestinian property in East Jerusalem, increasingly making it more difficult for Palestinians to travel into and out of Jerusalem, as it expands East Jerusalem’s boundaries to connect with the Jewish settlement of Ma’ale Adumim which it is also expanding. This will create a corridor for Israel across the West Bank to the Dead Sea and effectively cut the West Bank in half making a contiguous Palestinian state impossible. In fact because of 150 strategically placed Jewish settlements and a Jewish settlement population of 450,000 and 300 miles of for-Jews-only-highways which cut up the West Bank into disjoint subsections, A Palestinian state, in anything other than name only, is already an impossibility.

Zionism, which has existed since that 1880’s, consists of two central tenets. First, that a Jewish state is to be established which excludes other religions and ethnicities, specifically Christians and Moslems, at least to every extent possible. And Secondly, that the indigenous Arab and Christian population of Palestine must be deprived of its land, homes and property, as well as extirpated, in order to clear the way for a Jewish state. That process of ethnic cleansing is ongoing with the inexorable expansion of Israel into the West Bank and the takeover of East Jerusalem.

Zionism is a primary source of evil in today’s world as it runs counter to all international norm of human rights and principles of human decency.

Though Israel may well expand and incorporate all or almost all of the West Bank, and I see nothing to stop it, certainly not the Bush administration, Israel’s day are numbered, for the world will not forever tolerate a racist and racially exclusionary state that is founded on terrorism and ethnic cleansing and the source of so much brutality and cruelty exacted on the indigenous Palestinian population.

He said I was an anti semite, when there was nowhere I ever said that! Thats libelous. I have more clout calling him a paedophile than he has calling me a Jew hater.Think about it-dead Palestinian kids-his response?Mocking trhe dead. Thus, this is a sign of laten sadism. Sadism is psycho-sexual.Dead Kids + Psycho-Sexual-Sadism= Necrophiliac Paedophile.

It is true. Yet, for some reason, he did not get censored for libelling me.Someone else did get censored for stating the truth-.ie Noel is a peadophile.

There.Hope I don't get censored.I also hope Noel gets a terminal illness.Of the face. That, and also wishing he'd get the cr3p knocked out of him by an anti Zionist rabbi. Yes.Jews against Zionism. They exist.Just like White people against racism exist.Zionism in the sense of settlers and soldiers shooting kids because they can.The original term regarding zionism was different, it was in fact a plethora ofd ideas amongst one main aim.

Anyway, if Noel was in front of me I'd give him a fat lip for calling me a Jew hater. In the meantime, I'mn gonna print Noel's comments and burn them in a ritual so he gets his sorry ass hexed.

Might seem normal to a Dungannonite like you rooster. But down in the Free State we are not so used to heavily militarised check points as up in the occupied territory.

It's all in the eye of the beholder ..... but in principle you're right, they should have been carted off to the nearest police station / barracks and given a good going over. That would have softened their Fenian cough.

One and the same. Most loyalists seem to be unable to take to him because he has mastered the art of walking on two legs and refuses to converse in growls and grunts. His low vote among loyalists is actually an indication of his good standing among civilised men. He could have won a higher vote if he was a drooling imbecile, but fortunately for us all he’s not.

author by pig-ignorantpublication date Wed Jun 22, 2005 11:57author address author phone Report this post to the editors

Please do explain to the ignorant what the difference is ?

Presumably a "unionist" is one who wishes to maintain the political union between Northern Ireland and Great Britain as established by the Act of Union (1801 or thereabouts with subsequent amendments due to secession of the southern part of the island).

A "loyalist" is presumably one who pledges loyalty to the House of Windsor (or whoever happens to have their arse on the Throne of England assuming that they have complied with the Act of Succession).

It is clear that one could - at least hypothetically - be a "unionist" without acknowledging "loyalty" to the crown. Theoretically a "unionist" could be a "republican" (the mind boggles) in the sense of advocating a republican (i.e. non-monarchist) form of government for GB & NI while still advocating maintenance of the political union.

But isn't every "loyalist" (in the above defined sense) de facto a "unionist". How could one be "loyal" (in the Ulster Protestant sense) without also endorsing the "union" ?

As an outsider to these squabbles I am completely confused.

If you are referring to political party membership (UUP, DUP etc.) then shouldn't you capitalise it to avoid confusion: "Unionist" (in a party political sense).

But I forgot, you neaderthals don't like clarity of terminology, you prefer squabbling over obscure details that the rest of the world cannot understand stubbornly resisting any effort to cast light into the darkness.

author by C sna Cpublication date Wed Jun 22, 2005 12:52author address author phone Report this post to the editors

...With the only difference that whereas a "loyalist" supported indiscriminate murder of Catholics, a "unionist" relied on the official British armed forces to do their filthy work for them.

2 strands of the one supremacist "ideology" - both unfit for human consumption.

As I read your comments with scornful regard,
I contemplate your brain cell deficient hoggish skull,
A grotesque perversion of nature,
And I am astounded that you even remember to breath.
I see you, ooze flooding from your drooping vocal orifice,
Snorting snout stuck fathoms deep in the great universal trough,
And as you squirt your diseased seed over the maiden white page,
A million red-neck wet dreams fill your stunted non-mind.
Oh grunting pig-thing, oh victim of immense stupidity,
I charge that you must surely be the dumbest mofo to ever scurry forth on four stumps,
A ridiculous primeval pantomime, an unevolved horror from the swamp of existence.

I shudder now as I ask myself the horrible question:
